Additionally, Jones is under contract he has ZERO leverage. He can hold out but he won’t get paid. The Rams have him for this season and they can trade him, extend him, or he can play and they let him walk as a FA after the season, or re sign him then.

Rams hold all the cards.

I think it would be a HUGE mistake to move on from him right now. With all of the talented youth on this unproven D we are going to let the captain walk out two weeks before the season starts? So now we might start this year without AD AND our D signal caller?

I hope and think this is a situation where Les thinks Earnest is over valuing himself and is giving him a chance to see what another team will offer him. Hopefully that will create a more realistic place where we could both meet. Personally, I would like to re-sign Earnest as long as it's not for elite money.

I think that’s exactly what is happening. I believe he didn’t ask for a trade. He’s just asking for more than the Rams want to pay him. He must also have expressed his unhappiness with the situation—otherwise the Rams would just let him play out the season.

I think you can forget about a 3rd rd pick in return. A 4th would be nice, but I would guess a 5th. As much as I like him, he’s no Roquan Smith. And a team will have to pay him presumably a lot of money next year at a non-impact position. For reference, there was exactly one ILB drafted before the 3rd rd this year.

It's much more about the timing of this for me.

Then we’d be better off not trading to see if someone overpays and we get I higher comp pick.

With cuts looming it wouldn't surprise me if the Rams sign a few LB's this week.

Just saw this:

BREAKING: Standout linebacker Ernest Jones NEVER requested a trade from the Los Angeles #Rams, he just posted.

The whole SB turned in the 2nd half when Morris started sending Jones as a 5th rusher.

Trading him now would be a dumb move. And if the Rams put this out there in the public space, that's questionable decision-making, too.

A lie can go around the world before the truth can put it’s pants on.

Jones said he was okay with the situation but apparently he isn't. It's too bad but it also kind of is what it is.

He wants to get paid now. The Rams aren't going to (or at least sure seems that way)...

Just not a money positjon for them. I wonder if this is a confidence he won't garner much in a trade. And if he can't return much in a trade, how much can he expect to get?

"Ernest, if they're only offering a 5th how much are they gonna pay you?" His best bet might be, have a helluva year and get rewarded by somebody.
