PIRAM wrote:Huge Dan fan here.

Way back when in My Old School days, while still Reeling In The Years, I would stay up Night By Night to watch Rams highlights on TV. By day time I'd listen on FM radio.

Back then while lacing up my Bad Sneakers, I remember hearing Any Major Dude from SF tell us their team was going to do the Dirty Work to win. To admit to being a square Peg. A Dont Take Me Alive attitude which included cooking the books.
Then the SOSAR thing spewed by that big Black Cow Dana Stubblefield caused me Time Out Of Mind with an inability to assimilate that twisted Pretzel Logic.

All these years later, now that the horns are Home At Last, LA's Show Biz Kids are at the top of their Glamour Profession. The new King Of The World. I think back to that SF Dude and realize Only A Fool Would Say That.

RIP Walter Becker..

I have never met Napoleon but I plan to find the time, figuring he may be able to draw up some great offensive plays for the Rams

Gotta run get gas in the car.

Lovin this thread, nice to know there’s a few stowin away the time long enough to get the reference. One of my all time favs, the stuff they did was really unique and I still don’t understand what a lot of the songs were about but I guess you don’t need to. Not many (is band even the right word?) bands put basically jazz solos into commercial rock music.

Donald Fagen and Walter Becker formed Steely Dan back in the early 70's in LA (yes, the Rams were still in the Coliseum).. Hack & I grew up with them in Laguna.. they were constantly on in the background (enter da "smell of ganja").. and there you have it.. good times my friends :D

^^ So everyone can stop and stare at your technicolor motor home.

Perhaps the Rams came to LA on a dare but couldn't go it alone.

Trivia question: What is a Steely Dan?

The draw for me was the amazing guitar production and those guitar riffs. Denny Diaz, Rick Derringer, Jeff 'skunk' Baxter, Larry Carlton et al were studs. Fagen and Becker would create the songs and bring in several of those guys giving each a track per song to solo on. Then they would chose the one they liked best to make the record.

But none of them made PFFs top 10 list either....
