Well, the reason I'm pissed is because this team has so much talent, but lost to plenty of teams that were inferior to them.

People use the oline as an excuse to why they weren't good this season, but the 9ers just won the division with backups on their line.

I understand, it's a winning season. Yay.

Our division was already the toughest in the league this year, and we're bordering on FOUR powerhouses in the same division very soon, possibly as soon as next year. Personally I'd love to see the bottom drop out for the Seahawks, they've had their day in the sun. But one thing is certain, someone's got to go!

Granted, the road to the playoffs is easier with a division full of patsies (Hello Patriots, the current Bills notwithstanding), but I like that the NFC West is the real deal now. Iron sharpens iron, though I realize it also puts guys on the IR, but after so many years of the Mild Mild West and some real junk seasons by the RAMS, Cards and Niners...I think it is great that this is the big boy division of the NFL.

About this "perspective" thang....

As tragic as the sinking of the Titanic was....
it was an absolute miracle to the lobsters in the ship's galley.

I like ralphdieterbrock's OP. Lots of good facts there. 8-)

My NFL perspective since I started following The Horns in 1967 is this:
The NFL is hyper-competitive Franchises run by really smart owners, who hire VERY smart GMs, who in turn hire good players and effective coaches. As a fan, it is important to me, to have the Rams be relevant. :idea2:

To me, being "relevant" in a given NFL season, is to be "in the conversation" when talking about possible potential SB Contenders for that season.....IE. about who gets into the Playoffs.....because we all know that anything can happen in the Playoffs....witness the 9-7 Los Ramos of 1979 whose unlikely successes in Dallas and Tampa caused me to skip work and fly to Pasadena for SBXIV weekend and be one of the 103,985 Rose Bowl attendees (most ever in SB history BTW)...and then having to fib the next week at work about why I had no voice. That January 1980 weekend remains one of my great memories.....and Rams fans all over the world talk with pride about that SUCCESSFUL 1979 Rams team. So to me, TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL YEAR, YOU NEED TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS! :idea2:

Conversely, having a good W-L non-Playoff record DOES NOT QUITE CUT IT FOR ME.
EG...back in the 16 Team NFL...how about George Allen's Rams at 10-3-1 in 1968 huh? Rams have the 3rd best record after Baltimore's 13-1, Dallas' 12-2....and then the 10-4 Browns take their Division and Minnesota takes the Central with 8-6...... but, there's no WildCard spots back then, so Los Ramos don't get to go to the dance with the 3rd best record outa 16 teams!!! :(

Question: Do any Rams fans today talk about that 1968 Rams squad??!! NOPE!! BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE PLAYOFFS AND WERE, WHEN ALL THE DUST CLEARED, NOT RELEVANT IN THAT 1968 SEASON!! :idea2:

Some guys here are happier than me about our 9-7 non-Playoff finish for 2019. God bless you! I have no problem with guys who can take satisfaction and pride in a non-Playoff finish. I acknowledge your viewpoint and can see where you stand. No problem for me!

BUT....I am NOT wired that way.

So, if I want improvement to Los Ramos effectiveness....and I identify as a longtime fan, what I think is an avenue towards increased Rams effectiveness......THEN why can't that view point be acknowledged and respected as well? :?2:

As I have posted before, we are all wired differently. I am a longtime, some would say, "long-suffering" Rams fan......so when we miss YET ANOTHER PLAYOFF RELEVANT SEASON, I GET PROACTIVE ON IDENTIFYING WEAKNESS....and I opine about changes to bring about improvement, but I do not do it as a Rams Cheerleader....
...I do it as a longtime Rams fan.

This Forum is set up for Rams fans to come together, and discuss (and debate) Rams issues......not to pass judgements on whether guys are "naysayers" "doom&gloomers" and, my favorite, "scape-goaters"! :roll2:
IMO, some guys are overly quick on the judgemental.....and not so quick with facts. JMO.

I have posted here at RFU & called for the DC and OL Coach to be replaced....and named some players I feel we can do without in 2020. NewsBulletin: Those opinions do not make me a disloyal fan. On the contrary....I CARE TO point to specific problems that I see, in the hopes they will get corrected. Not everybody has to agree with my opinion, but I am calling out those who try to label and marginalize those of us who find fault, and post same.

The other 31 NFL Franchises are not going to just fade away in 2020 as the Rams youngsters all just automatically "get better" and Los Ramos just sail towards a 13-3 Playoff Bye in 2020. The 31 other NFL Franchises are all endeavoring to improve for 2020 as well. We should remember that fact as we discuss our beloved Team With Horns.

Go Rams In 2020!! :!2:

2007-2009 I attended 23 St. Louis Rams games and never saw a single victory. Not one. This season we are 9-7 (10-6 with one made kick) and the world is supposedly ending.

That included road games at Dallas and Tennessee.

I missed the lone 2008 home win as I was on my honeymoon in Jamaica. Had to suffer with watching it at the beach bar at Couples Negril.

WOW. You are a devotee and, , , know where to honeymoon. That sounds awesome. Give me some Caribbean or Hawaii, especially this time of year.

The best thing was shutting up the super obnoxious Cowboys fans. The lead guy was gloating how he forced the manager of the resort drive all the way to Montego Bay to get a few cases of Miller Lite because that’s all he will drink and nothing else. :roll2:

I have to agree that while 9-7 is "better" than the many losing seasons Rams fans have endured, being critical of a team that didn't play up to expectations and ultimately failed to take advantage of controlling their own destiny is perfectly reasonable and acceptable. If you're the Bengals, 9-7 sounds pretty good. If you're a SB contender and fail to make the playoffs, criticism is warranted.
