Well if it quacks like Donald Duck. Pretty sloppy move huh.. :?

Stranger wrote:I just wonder what's really going on here. Let me ponder some options, perhaps some of them a little wild:

1. Richardson (and Fabiani) recruited Iger on their own, as the story suggests
2. Goodhell greenlit the recruitment of Iger in order to create more competition between ESK and Spanos, perhaps to force ESK to pony-up a better deal
3. Goodhell greenlit the recruitment of Iger in order to backstab Richardson later and slam the door on the Spanos shenanigans.

I'm sure there are plenty more devious scenarios my mind hasn't sunk low enough to comprehend yet. But what I've learned in this corporate controlled media world, it's almost impossible to figure out the truth, and it's almost always worse than we can imagine.

No kidding, I was chatting with a local Rams fan friend of mine today and we likened this to a great who-dunnit. A spy mystery novel that you can't put down. Gangsters. He reminded me that StLoo is very near Chicago.

With regard to Goodell, I was under the impression that he is very pro Hollywood Park CoC. IIRC it was determined the Rams had the executive branch on our side.
I still don't know how that committee formation occurred though. Did JR put it together? I can't imagine Goodell wanted the agenda they were driving. If so, it would be significant when it come to the consequence assessment part of this.
Kroenke is getting jobbed and eveyone knows it now...

That Iger was more than honest by some of his responses too.

"I was approached - I guess I can do this Mark, talk about the genesis in a little more detail? - I was approached by (Panthers owner) Jerry Richardson," said Iger, "and he asked whether I'd be interested in helping very specifically the partnership of the Raiders and the Chargers move to L.A., develop a stadium, reposition themselves here. I engaged in conversations with Jerry and then with both entities. That's how it came about."

Iger said his meeting with Richardson was also somewhat of a clandestine operation.
"When Jerry approached me, he asked for some degree of confidentiality,” said Iger. “I didn't discuss it until much later with the league
."

Perhaps their new superhero spokesman, should learn when not to speak. In all fairness, it's a lot harder to remember the details of a lie.

Now let's see what they come up with next.

Well for those of us who said Stan could end up in court suing the NFL for collusion against him. I would say Iger's interview which is now a matter of public record in print. Just gave him some important ammo, from here on out I do believe the NFL will seek to avoid such a lawsuit so I am sure Stan is hearing some news he find very good behind closed doors. Depending on how amicable he feels he might even be able to leverage this into a move by his lonesome with perhaps Spanos joining him later or he could end up with the market to himself until they add a future expansion team. One thing I am sure is some lawyers on all concerned sides are pouring over some cases and law books about now.

Stan from what I understand was willing to abide by the fellow owners decisions. But after seeing cards dealt from the bottom of the deck he's got to realize it's shady all around.
Wouldn't surprise me to see Stan announce he's going rogue in advance of the January decision.

We're all glued to this thing like it's a cheap murder-mystery novel. All of us knows it's ridiculous, but none of us can put it down :)

Thinking about additional side-plots here, I wonder if someone got to Iger and put some behind-the-scenes pressure on him which lead him to be so open & honest in that interview. I realize folks here are suggesting that ESK go rogue or go legal, but I'm actually wondering if what we are seeing isn't the result of an ESK clandestine move that has already happened. What I'm suggesting is that ESK (perhaps thru the Walmart family) got to Iger, and he turned on Richardson, Mark, Spanos, et al to save himself from a bad deal elsewhere. I'm pretty confident that ESK woiuld have already known, through private chit chat inside the NFL Family, how Iger was recruited - I doubt this information is new to insiders (only to the public). So, ESK retaliating in such as way as to not know who the retaliator is makes a lot of sense to me.

And with regard to Goodhell, he's the son of a US Senator from NY, so I'm not going to take anything he says or does on face value.

If the Charaiders get LA and the Rams are stuck in the Loo, I wouldn't be surprised if Kroenke eyes London. You know the NFL wants to add London to its fraternity at some point.

JT just pointed out that London is preposterous so Rams stay in StL. SD off the table too. Of course he has no source.

Basically he reads Bernie's blog and regurgitates it on the PD because old Bernie doesn't work there anymore. JT doesn't have an original thought similarly never a poignant question to ask either.
