On top of that... Vinny just tweeted it's one in a series of conversations between the two.

I can see that.

But we really don't know what it means yet.

I do remember hearing that Kroenke would never meet with them until the STL plan was actionable. So this is curious.

Good point.

Again.. *if* I was a pro-Stl person.. I would read this as a positive.

But... is it?

Heck if I know.

If Stan were inclined to accept the lousy, unfunded offer from STL in this meeting Nixon would have been at the microphone screaming it to the world. If for no other reason than to impact the votes of the alderman.

His silence speaks volumes.

Was just getting ready to post the same az. If Stan has relented, and called the Gov in to tell him he is considering staying, Nixon would be shouting to the world, "Rams are staying!" That meeting was yesterday, and not a peep from Nixon, the Task Force or PD

If Rams are staying, for what possible reason would there be for Nixon or the Rams front office to stay quiet about it?

per sources....#rams owner Stan Kroenke has had talks with Governor Nixon prior to today's meeting at Rams Park. #fox2

Don't know what to make of that. But it definitely doesn't sit well for move to LA

It's definitely the first sign of what might be construed as cooperation. Whether this is in light of a secret memo that let ESK know he was screwed, or whether he actually was using LA as leverage to hammer out a better deal remains to be seen.

That said he might me sizing these guys up right before the meetings. Or possibly making a showing of good faith right before the meetings. Remember that the opposition supports Spanos on an emotional level. At least it appears that way. So for ESK to closer follow the guidelines might make some of his opponents feel better about turning away from StLoo.

ESK having to wait and let others catch up does give me pause. Either at some point the legal department let the NFL front office know that there could be too many legal RAMifications allowing a Rams move after the new option of Carson reared it's head. Or was it that the other owners didn't want the Rams to move at all?

For the past 11 months we have been dissecting this thing ad nauseum. Now we are in the final hours and the truth will be told. Whether it's the same truth(s) that were prevailing 6, 8, 10 months ago is unknown since many things have changed.

I intend to hold to the general truth that money talks, the Inglewood site is simpler, sooner, better, the Rams area a LA legacy team, StL is corrupt and established bad will, the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders are more important than the StL Rams, Carson is a dog and leverage is what the NFL is all about and they still need it in San Diego and Oakland, not LA or StLoo.

Im genuinely thinking that Kroenke has decided to show the other owners that he is playing nice in the sand box

More interesting that he was there and not invited into the room. Something about that is a tell.
For example, if ESK was actively working with the task farce to button down the Gnat or that other site, why would he have been excluded from the meeting? And apparently unwillingly sice he took the time to go there.
(This is a stretch, perhaps Nixon needed him around to consult with if certain aspects of the project came up?)

Also Martin Kilcoyne (CBS StLoo) tweeted "rams owner Stan Kroenke has had talks with Governor Nixon prior to today's meeting at Rams Park". So they have had previous meeting and we haven't heard about those (alleged) meetings either. Perhaps a gag order by NFL or more likely ESK.
If true, it shows the Rams due diligence as @slo pointed out. This is good for relocation purposes, if that is the purpose.

Or... it could be Stan merely creating the illusion of cooperating. All of it.

I see this as perception management. ESK is using the takeway principle. Can you imagine how panic'd Goodhell must be if he thinks that ESK may actually pull-out of plans to create the NFL's crown jewel. This is ESK telling the NFL to make a decision or you're going to lose the opportunity. That's why THIS time the meeting made the media, and the last times it did now. Everyone is a Chess piece, and the public are the Pawns :)

I agree.

They're different theories on why he met with Nixon. You could make a case for each one so I guess we have to wait and see.

If the NFL loses Inglewood, the NFL is screwed because we all know Carson won't ever happen. I mean hypothetically if the Rams bail out, the Chargers and LOL Raiders aren't moving down to LA in 2016 because they'll no longer feel the need to do it. The Rams/Kroenke/Inglewood drive everything.

No Inglewood, no LA. Maybe the NFL won't care, but they're being handed a golden nugget by Kroenke and they're f'ing it up as far as I can tell because of the Charaiders bs.

Because the Chargers' rhetoric beginning last January was they're doing Carson to protect their interests after Kroenke's power play. I don't really care if they were having discussions with Carson before last January. Per usual the Chagers have an excuse for being late to the party. Farmers Field was too pricey. Then LA wasn't quite right. Then they were giving SD time. Then 2 months after Kroenke's stadium announcement, Carson is announced.

Also, let's call Carson for what it is. The Chargers project. The Raiders really have zero affiliation with the deal, and they're tagged onto the project like a secondary footnote to solve two stadium issues. For a team supposedly on the verge of being in LA next year, they say nothing.

Also, no, I don't think the NFL needs LA as much as people think. I mean 20 years there hasn't been a team and this won't make or break the league in any fashion. If LA fails (again) I don't think many tears will be shed.
