Fields has the physical tools. Good arm, good runner. And I get the logic "he would be better with McVay than with Chicago (or Pittsburgh)". Shouldn't that also apply to Garappolo?

He sure excelled under Shanahan. McVay's offense and philosophy is similar. I suppose the difference is SF had a very good defense. He didn't have to get into a shootout. Not sure we can say the same about our defense.

True, and probably not really Wentz either. JG fits what MCV does without having to modify the offense. MCV emphasized skill at running the scout team for the weekly look for the D. JG can do that except the running QB part. They have 6-7 games with mobile QBs right now by my count.

Interesting since they already acquired DWill. Coming off an achilles shouldn't require a multi-year deal. A second level signing if it happens. But a good second level. Without the achilles, a first level signing.

When did he tear the Achilles? If not fully recovered, a 1 year deal makes zero sense. Would be signing on his potential once fully recovered no?? That could be late this year/early next. So at least a 2 year deal I would think, if at all.

He tore it vs Miami on Oct. 1st.

Akers (7/20/21) recovered in 5 months. July 20th to January 9th. Maybe not fully but.....he played.
Noteboom (10/17/22) was ready for the start of the season (9/10/23), despite many fans saying it wouldn't happen.

A 1 year deal with an option for year 2 is the same as a 1 year deal IMO. I don't expect he'd get much guaranteed money. It would have to be dependent on availability. Per game bonuses? Roster bonus(es)?

He's actually missed 29 games the last 3 years. ACL (11/25/21) and achilles (10/1/23). So it would definitely depend on availability.

Obviously some of these guys will be tagged or resigned. But there are some pretty good free agents, young and headed into their prime, to be had and the Rams have money to spend. Thoughts?

They did get those 2 G's. They also got a CB, TE and S. Yeah, they didn't get Edge, LB or DT. Get them in the draft. I'm liking the way they went about it. Almost like they know what they're doing! :D

AD retiring does change the draft dynamic. Where they take an edge remains to be seen. Curiously, they have basically left their only other edge (Hoecht) exposed and I wouldn't be surprised if he is signed by another team like the Vikings.

That suggests to me they have a strong target edge in this draft. Remember they grabbed Young in the third round. That said I think they could take someone like Isaac or Trice in the second round. Either or both might be on the board when they pick in the second.

I like the growth potential in Adisa Issac out of Penn State a lot. Physically he checks the boxes in terms of length, weight and athleticism. He's the kind of guy that would be a good bookend to Young. Those two combined with Turner would provide them with the kind of rush the Rams need.

They could then grab a LT and CB in the third round.
