My take.

They're not moving on from Stafford.

Mayfield is not the leader and steady presence Stafford is. He has shown in the past what his character is and I don't think people change that fundamentally.

You don't pay 2 #1 qbs to be on the roster at the same time.

Mayfield will attract interest and will cost too much to keep, and him leaving earns them a high comp pick anyway.

To me Mayfield is the opposite of the Rams rentals from the last few seasons. Guys like Miller they traded for then lost when they walked. Mayfield cost them nothing and could earn them something, so he's not a rental, he's a goodwill project they re-built and are selling on consignment.

You're bring up a good point with regard to the leadership thing. Also our sample size is quite small.
I still can't let go of what could become of us if Stafford goes down again or for those seasons after Stafford leaves while we're looking for someone as good as Baker. .

Absolutely Sean Payton will be the Denver Broncos coach. They are going to give him a huge deal 5 yrs. I told y’all about Hackett

Payton’s main job FIX RUSSELL WILSON!!!!!!!!

he did the same thing with another little guy Quarterback Drew Brees.

They will want him to implement that With Russ.

They made a huge investment in Russ have to get him right. Sean is great with Quarterbacks.

And he doesn’t take no shit. From the school of Bill Parcells.

But damn that trade has destroyed our division.

Look at Seattle. They will have CJ Stroud Charles Cross and Kenneth Walker. Because of Russ what a lopsided trade.

Back to Us. If Baker leaves we have to get a competent Backup.

Spencer Rattler Dorian Thompson III just someone who can run the offense. Competent Backup.

Marcus Marriotta shit trade for Zach Wilson. If he can fix mayfield maybe he’ll work wonders with that bust.

Maybe he goes to Denver and that clusterfuck. But he's had his eyes on Dallas. And if they fail again this year, McCarthy should be gone. Especially if they lose bad.

Payton didn't "fix" Drew Brees. He got him away from Shottenheimer!! His last 2 years with the Chargers, he had a 96.1 QB rating, 65.0% comp %, 51 TDs, 22 Ints, 6735 yards in a run first offense and the Chargers were 21-11.

San Diego drafted Eli Manning, then traded him for Rivers and fired Marty after one year with him. Then went to the postseason 3 straight years without him.

Solid concerns. We'd be in load of manure to be sure. Given the OL, Staff (though not a statue, less mobile than Baker), Staff has taken a lot of abuse over the years...Father Time wants to be paid at some point...I'd rather just go with Baker, of course, Staff would have to retire and that does not appear to be happening.

Find a young gun in the draft.

Sure Staff is less mobile. But he can see over linemen and has great access to pass g lanes and windows.

Ask yourself if you would have traded Staff for Baker before the season started?

No fucking chance.

Baker has done som good things in his small sample size. He is not even comparable to Staff. But, he can be developed, can win, and would make an awesome #2. But that won’t happen. He will start elsewhere and that team will win 8-10 games at best is my guess.

Lets take a look of what teams he would go to:

AFC EAST

Buffalo Bills/Josh Allen (No Chance)

Miami Dolphins/ Tua (Possible, due to his injury)

New England Patriots/ Jones
(No Chance, too soon, still developing, Not a good fit for BM, HC/defense mind)

New York Jets/Zach Wilson (Possible)

AFC NORTH

Cincinnati Bengals/ Burrow (No chance)

Baltimore Ravens /Jackson (No chance)

Pittsburgh Steelers / Pickett (No Chance, to soon, still developing)

Cleveland Browns/Watson (No Chance)

AFC SOUTH

Jacksonville Jaguars/Lawrence (No Chance)

Tennessee Titans/Tannehill (No Chance)

Indianapolis Colts/Ryan/Foles as backup (No Chance, Indy invested too much already)

Houston Texans/ DRAFT, Possible first pick QB
(No Chance, they have two 1st and 2nd rd picks, they'll be rebuilding)

AFC WEST

Kansas City Chiefs/Mahomes (No Chance)

Los Angeles Chargers/Herbert (No Chance)

Las Vegas Raiders/Carr on the trading block (Possible)

Denver Broncos/Wilson (No Chance, too soon, to much invested)

NFC EAST

Philadelphia Eagles/Hunt (No Chance)

Dallas Cowboys/Prescott (No Chance)

New York Giants/D. Jones (No Chance, too soon, still developing)

Washington Commanders/Heinicke (No Chance, too soon, still developing)

NFC NORTH

Minnesota Vikings/Cousins (No Chance)

Detroit Lions/Goff (No Chance, starting to develop with new team)

Green Bay Packers/Rodgers (No Chance)

Chicago Bears/Fields (No Chance, too soon, still developing)

NFC SOUTH

Tampa Bay Buccaneers/Brady if he retires or moves to another team.
(Possible, but they drafted a QB in 2nd rd 2022)

Carolina Panthers/ doesn't Matter who the QB, (NO CHANCE)

New Orleans Saints/Winston, FA Dalton (I don't see a Chance)

Atlanta Falcons/Mariota IR,
(Possible, but will be rebuilding, I don't see it happening, could be drafting a QB)

NFC WEST

San Francisco 49ers/Purdy, Lance, FA JimmyGQ
(Possible, depending on how Purdy produces in end season & playoffs)

Seattle Seahawks/FA Smith (No Chance, they will resign Smith)

Los Angeles Rams/Stafford
(BM on the team now, and plays great with McVay,
could see the rams making a deal, Spotrac Market Value at 6.5mil,
Snead/Pastoors could work some magic)

Arizona Cardinals/Murray (No Chance, too invested)

Funny how a few ex-players in the media have said the best place for Baker in 2023 is with McVay. Hmmm. If only he'd listen.

I don't think todays game is going to get him a lot of offers.

Baker has performed admirably given the circumstances and maybe well enough to get a starting shot on a shitty team but I think he'll be smart enough to sit a year or two as a backup...IF that's what the Rams want.
