They had some weak spots. After Kershaw and Greinke there was a huge drop in caliber of the starters. On offense they were too reliant on the long ball. Timely hitting was a weak point. And the relievers between the starter and closer were shaky. We were fortunate to be in a weak division. The Mets are a better team. I'm actually surprised we pushed them to 5 games. by OldSchool 9 years 8 months ago Total posts: 1750 Joined: Jun 09 2015 LA Coliseum Pro Bowl Re: The Dodgers POST #176 I think the writing was written large on the wall when Friedman fired the entire minor league coaching staff including roaming coaches. Look for Donny to be traded to Florida, they'd expressed an interest in him. The rest of the coaches will be let go and they'll start over. Keep an eye on Ron Reonike (or however you spell it) since they brought him in late and moved Donny's other coaches around as a replacement. Another name I've seen thrown out there, though I'm not sure what coaching he's done in the last couple years, is Jason Kendall. It's going to be an interesting off season for sure. by moklerman 9 years 8 months ago Total posts: 7680 Joined: Apr 17 2015 Bakersfield, CA Hall of Fame Re: dodger game question for those watching POST #177 snackdaddy wrote:ramfaninsd wrote:what forum?"Other Sports". This is the Dodgers and the first week of the season 'til now, they are the most un-clutch team in baseball. But, I do have to jump on the Mattingly bash-wagon considering his terrible lineup. Why in the world was Grandal playing? Dude hasn't had a hit in 100 at bats and has a shoulder that needs surgery. WTF? Ellis may not be the greatest but that seems like an easy choice to make. Hernandez starting in CF? So, Donnie's willing to give a vet a chance and go against the numbers with Grandal but decides to go with a nobody when there are high-ceiling guys getting paid a ton of money he chains to the bench? I'd much rather have seen Puig out there and roll the dice(if that's going to be your approach) with him than Hernandez. And what's the deal with pissing Ethier off? Bad day at the office for Mattingly IMO. It's the same for the Dodgers every year though. Regardless of ownership, management, coaching, personnel, etc. Good pitching and no hitting. Other than one miracle hit by Gibson, it's been that way since the '80's started. by Hacksaw_64 9 years 8 months ago Total posts: 2686 Joined: Sep 08 2015 Inglewood, CA Moderator Re: dodger game question for those watching POST #178 moklerman wrote:snackdaddy wrote:ramfaninsd wrote:what forum?"Other Sports". Especially when he didn't move the runner. What I though might happen didn't. They haven't been able to hit against great pitching all year. Last night they showed up.Game changers:-Ethier's tantrum (sucked the good vibes out of the bench air)-Ethier turning a foul ball into a sac fly-The shift play (no one covering third on the walk)- Grienke pitching inside AGAIN to Harvey with a base open- not delivering the killshot to deGromAnyways, pretty good run for as flawed a team as this was imo. Hard Dodger team to watch this year with that bullpen, and 3,4,5 starting pitching. Hopefully we can resign Zach and Howie. Hopefully Pederson can work out his swing dilemma in the offseason, and Puig can get on track.
