Ultimately, there is not that much disagreement on where Goff is at this point in his career.

The reason this thread has been so long is (1) Max's initial comments were, in the eyes of many, too pessimistic in light of Goff's overall success, and (2) the annoying zn-splaining that followed.

I think Goff will have an excellent game on Sunday. I hope I'm right... not only because I'm a Rams fan and a Goff fan, but because I'd prefer not to have to read more "Goff hasn't proven ______" threads in the future.

Yebbit you should know that's not gonna happen. Like A1 pointed out, it'll be "Can Goff win in the cold?", "Can Goff prove he can win a playoff game", "Can Goff prove he can win when his defense gives up more than 51 points?", "Can Goff prove he can win on the road, in December in the Eastern time zone when his opponent is wearing throwbacks?" (I know there will be a few to explain the importance of that last one ;) ), etc. etc.

There will always be those fans "concerned" about certain things.

A1 said it perfectly. Guys like Brady and Brees didn't establish themselves playing against top 5 defenses in bad weather. They feasted when the conditions and opposition were optimal and they got the job done when they weren't. I've seen plenty of off games from elite quarterbacks that won. You don't have to be elite every game to win. You have to get the job done. Goff has had some elite games but when he hasn't he usually gets the job done.

So you're writing off Goff's chances in this game in advance? As a way of getting in jabs at a guy who wondered if he could come through in this game?

Meanwhile, what will it take for you to say that Goff is at the same level as Brady or Brees? Or...do you think he is already at that level?

I stand corrected. I have never read them so I am not as familiar. 8-)

Spoken with a cleft chin. And who the heck is Cliff?

After this season, if the Rams hold it together, get into and win the big game, Jared will have nothing left to prove right? He's already won in the cold, in the rain/snow, under unusual circumstances, against good defensive squads, against good offensive squads, against good defenses while ours is yielding a ton of points, yada-yada...

Here's a check list of 4 remaining things to prove.

1) win a playoff game at home.
2) win a playoff game on the road.
3) win a Lombardi trophy. (most QB's have something to prove here)
4) he can remain consistent over his career.

I grew up near Chicago and a mid/upper 20 degree night with no real wind is not horrible vs a 35/40 degree day with a 15 MPH lake wind. You get all that gear and adrenaline and sideline heaters and coats etc and they should be fine including Goff. If he comes out with gloves on I’ll be very concerned.

Yep. I don't like the glove idea either. Its not that cold. Put your hands in your pockets between plays if you need to. I've played in mid 20's weather as a youngster, you don't need gloves if its not very windy or sleeting.

I know, that's what I said. 8-)

Why all this interest in the Chicago game? Other than the fact that it's the next game. I think they already have a 1st round bye. The 3 games after the Bears look pretty winnable. So obviously beating the Bears would go a long way to securing HFA throughout the post-season.
