No doubt but that was 2 years ago, still had the 5th year option on his rookie deal to work with. And they really wanted to replace Von Miller who did so much to open things up for AD in '21.

It's 2 years later, different DC, AD in a different part of his career, we'll see what the Rams are thinking soon enough...

No doubt. And as Ramsman pointed out, they went on to draft not only Byron Young but Hampton, Mathis and Johnson as well. Changes the formula.

Really glad the Rams didn’t pony up that kind of Jack to sign Burns. I think they go draft and some 2nd/3rd wave FAs at edge. We don’t need a “name”. We need production and a great fit. Might take a few guys. And the other 3 rookies Brooklyn named will develop, get stronger, be smarter players come next season. And Young should take a big jump too. They draft Latu or Verse and sign a vet or two and we will probably be in good shape. Get more great corners and the rush gets even better by osmosis.

Reading Jourdan's latest, Rams basically don't want to spend a lot of money on the defense, prefer to spend it on offense. So that means edge will be a non top dollar solution.

She thinks Noteboom has restructured otherwise he would've been cut, should hear one way or the other soon.

Rams also don't want to spend much money on backup QB.

Still some decent vet options available at QB. Clowney at Edge or a cheap trade for Reddick or Sweat with the former the more likely. All this might happen after the draft.

I think there is a very real possibility they are going to the draft for edge - depending on how the top 10 selections play out. I think the first 7-8 pieces are QB, LT, WR. This will push edge players down to the 10-20 range. Unless there’s a run at 10 on edge, the Rams might be able to sit and wait. Or they might have to trade up to get one of the top 3.

Other than announcing the Boom restructure/release, I don’t think we hear much from the Rams until the draft.

More FA moves after that and right before camp starts is my guess.

I was hoping the Rams would try to land Chase Young but I don't think they have the cap right now. Besides I'm sure they have a player or two targeted to play the weakside edge. That said they could simply play Donald there this season with Brown and Turner inside at NT and DT respectively.

That would allow them to use Hoecht as his rotation to rest the "old man". LOL

Because they have that option I don't see edge as the huge importance that others do. Hoecht was fine at DE it was when Morris played him as a OLB in coverage that made no sense.

I think the Rams are done in free agency. They have transformed this roster both on the OL and in the secondary. Extending Robinson has been an understated important signing. He's the bridge for the WR I expect them to sign.

KR is an open need, and I can see Smith or Evans looked at in TC for that role. Tramell is reliable but if they change the KO format I think you would want someone quicker and faster overall. Smith has 4.3 speed and returned kicks in college. KOs will be more like punts but unlike punts you won't fair catch them and more of them will be squibbed.
