Looks like that’s being confirmed.

It did seem a little too good to be true and as Brandt is saying here, i wasn't sure it was even allowed by cap rules...

you have to wonder just how much friendlier a deal the rams would want, as is stafford ranks 16th in qb cap hits in 2021, and 13th in 2022 (which will no doubt drop by the time 2022 rolls around), not too shabby for a top tier (according to more than a few) qb.

Probably a difference between lost cause and can't do the stuff McVay wants to do.

I guess we'll see what Detroit's plans for Goff are but i'm sure that 2nd 1st round pick had a lot to do with Detroit making the deal...

The thing about Stafford is, he's coming to a team that has had a lot of recent success. How often did he have a realistic chance at a Superbowl in Detroit? 2014? He's got to be excited about joining the Rams. Now let's hope we can retain some of our defensive stars.

Didn’t like it yesterday bc I have a soft spot for Goff but I’m over it.

Rams did the right thing and Stafford is a clear upgrade over Goff.

Hope the Rams learned their lesson. Don’t give guys a huge contract when they have 2 years left and you have the franchise tag.

Here's how to look at this brilliant offload of a shitty Contract by McSnead

Goff + 2022 First Rounder + 2021 Compensatory 3rd Rounder (we got for Holmes) were for Detroit to take on all those millions in Goff guaranteed money.

Then the 2023 First Rounder was for QB Mathew Stafford.

Yeah, looks like we have the Goff 2021 Dead Money of $22.2 Million to eat, but who cares?
Stafford's 2021 Salary of $20 Million gets reworked to $4.86 Million for 2021 (per overthecap.com) and we have an additional $7.89 Million to throw towards retaining a JJ III or a Leonard Floyd....can you say Franchise Tag??!!! ;) :arrow2: :idea2:

I do NOT get all the negativity here on this trade!
I mean, yeah....McSnead (and geniuses Demoff & Pastoors brought the URGENCY to unload the Goff shit deal upon themselves with their premature and overly generous extensions to Goff....and lets not forget Gurley too eh!).....

but having said that diss of past Ram Braintrust's Salary Cap sins, the fact is we had to get out from under a shit contract on a QB that had peaked and was never ever gonna take us to a SB with those dink&dunk passes and poor judgement calls that resulted in #2 in 2019-2020 NFL Turnovers for Jared PepperidgeFarms Goff....okay!

Well, hallelujah.... McSnead found a way to dig outa that Goff hole they had dug for themselves.....and I am exceedingly glad!! :D

Some good puck luck for Los Ramos with Holmes being the guy pulling the trigger for the Lions eh! Holmes wudda been instrumental in scouting and picking Goff #1 overall in 2016 for Los Ramos, so he had "the inside Goff intel" to sell Lions ownership on spending all this Ford Family dinero on an overpriced underachiever QB for the past 2 seasons.

Question: Do some guys here actually think that Jared Goff is gonna take the Detroit Lions to the SuperBowl???
.....because if there are, please PM me as I have a 1997 SAAB 900 SE Talladega Model convertible for sale with only 270,000 Kms on it.....a true classic!!! :lol2:

I wonder if they will learn that lesson or if it's even a lesson to be learned. We've been making bad cap/contract moves for 4 years running now and it hasn't seemed to matter.

There's a disconnect for sure but maybe some of that disconnect is the conventional wisdom is wrong...
