I always zone out during commercials and nowadays i look at Twitter on my phone.

But i know a lot of people are super interested in the SB commercials. Seems like another win for the NFL to me.

The real tell will be if networks keep paying out the nose for the NFL and, so far, there's no indication that's going to change...

I missed not having the new movie commercials this year. They only similar thing we got was the new trailer for the "Falcon and the Winter Solider" series on Disney +.

The comparison to other sports is a bit of an apples vs. oranges model, though.

For example, the World Series generally draws between 10M-20M viewers. The Super Bowl draws over 100M in a typical year. So, while the % drop in viewership is less, the totals are greater (the Super Bowl was down about 9M this year - almost as much as the total average viewership of a World Series game).

Again, its all about marketing. My impression is that, in trying to appeal to everyone, the NFL has started alienated some of its base. Perhaps they don't care, as hardcore football fans will tolerate the fluff and keep watching. Perhaps they'll change. We'll see.

You have to wonder if Apple would make it Apple TV only or have it be platform independent.

Apple seems to play nicer with others as Apple Music is available on Alexa and Google Nest devices now. But I could see Sunday Ticket being a big enough prize (and price) to require Apple hardware.

And that would suck. Their proprietary behavior has always put my off.

I understand and agree. That's why I remain hardware/software agnostic myself and use Apple, Chrome, Windows plus Linux.

The only question in my mind is if the price is so high that Apple needs to chain Sunday Ticket to their devices as an incentive to buy their hardware.

Considering Apple TV+ is available on most streaming devices and smart TVs, gotta assume Sunday Ticket would be too, assuming Apple ends up with it...

I wish whoever gets it allows you to subscribe to a team as opposed to the Direct TV model of all games.
