I coulda swore I saw a top down pic and the whole field pretty much fits inside the boundaries of the oculus. If so, any hit if even possible would be out of bounds anyways.

Great question. I sure hope it's not dead space. If it is.... what a waste and disappointment. That's like 1/3rd of the side surface area.
