Kings 132 Lakers 114: Final::: When I turned the game on it was Lakers 4 Kings 2, I went in the kitchen & came back 2-3 minutes later & it was Kings 14 Lakers 4, which eventually got up to a 31 point lead by the Kings, it was never close again...I said after the opener against the T-Wolves it was gonna be a long year but after watching what I could tonite I think maybe I'm being too optimistic, after 2 games the stench from lousy play blots out everything happening on the court, its really hard watching this team do their impression of the Keystone Cops...I swear, 3 straight times the Kings stole the ball while the Lakers were bringing the ball up court in the 1st qtr! I didn't watch the whole game, I couldn't, I've never seen a Lakers team play this bad...

Well, they're primarily a young team. Young teams make mistakes and generally don't play defense. At least not NBA caliber defense. I might have to rethink my thoughts on them this year. I still don't think they're as bad as last year's team. But I can't see them being a playoff contender. Winning 35 might be a stretch. I'm thinking upper 20's. And they might be just bad enough to have to give up their pick to Philly. I don't see them a bottom 5 team. But I do see them as a bottom 12 team.

The 2015-16 Los Angeles Lakers are like a bunch of young calf's with long legs, cracky voices and a lot to learn. These Lakers are not playing hard enough or even remotely imposing their will. Then their is their way over the hill cap sucking super hero.... AAuGH .
They got no swag.
Unleash MWPeace. lol

And start shooting way more jump shots in practice...!

They look like a bottom 5 team to me. Anyone know what the status on our first round pick is in order for it to be protected? Do we need to be the worst or second worst team? What a stupid deal it was to give away all our future first round picks for Nash.

status on our first round pick

It's top 3 protected:

first round pick (protected top 5 in 2015, top 3 in 2016-17, unprotected in 2018)

The 2016 Pick Debt – Who Owes Who? . . . Philadelphia receives LA Lakers’ 1st-round pick, protected 1-3

76ers receive the Lakers 2015 1st round pick (via PHX) (protected top 5 in 2015, top 3 in 2016-17, unprotected in 2018)

So how does that exactly work? Are they protected if they finish in the bottom three teams? Or do they they have to win one of the top three picks in the lottery?

Yes, winning one of the top three means they lose it -- the pick determines, not the actual W-L record.

[Edit: Yes, I fail at multitasking. Top 3, they keep. Else, they lose.]

LOL now I'm really confused... So you are saying if they actually get one of the top 3 picks in the lottery then they lose the pick? Otherwise they keep it? I thought the protection was the reverse.
