L.A. County plans to require COVID-19 vaccinations at indoor bars, nightclubs, breweries, wineries

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination will be required at indoor bars, wineries, breweries, nightclubs and lounges in Los Angeles County under a forthcoming health order one official said will help further armor the region against another coronavirus wave.

The mandate will also apply to employees of those establishments and require that both they and patrons have at least one vaccine dose by Oct. 7 and are fully vaccinated by Nov. 4, Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer announced during Wednesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting.

“This is a reasonable path forward that will position us to to be better able to break the cycle of surges,” she told the board.

Under the new order, participants and workers at outdoor “mega events” with more than 10,000 attendees will also need to provide proof of vaccination or show that they’ve recently tested negative for coronavirus infection. That requirement is already in place for indoor events where at least 1,000 people are present.

Ferrer said county health officials are also strongly recommending, though not requiring, vaccine verification at indoor portions of restaurants.

The county’s standing requirement that residents mask up in indoor public settings will remain in place, she added.

We want to make sure you are aware of Friday’s order from the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health, which, effective October 7, requires either proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of event start for entry to events with 10,000+ attendees at all stadia across the County, including SoFi Stadium, for guests ages 12 and older. This new requirement will go into effect starting with our game against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, October 24 and will be in effect for subsequent games and events, until further notice.

Guests under the age of 12 are not required to provide a negative COVID-19 test, but, like all attendees, will be required to wear a mask at all times, except when actively eating or drinking.

Please note, this new requirement will not be in effect for events prior to October 7, so our September 26 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and October 3 game against the Arizona Cardinals will not have a vaccination or testing requirement. However, in accordance with the current Los Angeles County mask mandates, all fans and staff will be required to wear masks at all times except while actively eating or drinking, regardless of vaccination status. This includes both indoor and outdoor areas of the stadium.

The mask mandate will continue after October 7, regardless of vaccination status. Guests will be required to wear a mask at all times in SoFi Stadium, except when actively eating or drinking.

Given there are options for fans to comply with the updated safety policies, refunds for game tickets will not be available. If you cannot meet these requirements, available options include transferring, reselling or donating your tickets.

We will continue to update our fans as we receive further guidance from the LA County Department of Public Health and best determine how to implement these new guidelines for our game on October 24 and beyond.
