I really don't get it. Why all the Trujo hate? Since when did he suck?

And this is coming from a guy who wanted to keep JJ over Trujo ( by far the minority opinion amongst los fanos de Ramos) so I really don't have an axe to grind, but I CAN tell you one thin. Trujo doesn't suck.

You know who does suck?

Pretty much anyone we line up in his place after you trade our second round pick and give him away just to dump his salary...

The reason why teams like the Patriots pay top dollar(seemingly overpay) for proven CB's in FA almost every year is that its easily the biggest exploitable position in football.

If there is any place to have a weak link in the chain it isn't here. In fact nowadays you pretty much need 3 stud CB's.

So yeah lets dump Trujo who what probably wants 13m-14m over 5years who is at the bare minimum a young top 20 cb in the league so we can trot out

Coty Sensabaugh for 7-8M???

Instead of giving Trujo a long term deal which he did earn btw by way outperforming his dollar amount of his rookie contract.

Because you think he gets paid too much? get over it..

Why Bob to use the money freed up to give Jared Cook 12 illion, Malcom Smith 7M, Eddie Lacey 5.5M and Menelik

Why not just sign him, Bob?

Obviously his agent is playing hardball. But can you blame him? If you look at it from Tru's standpoint this next contract is what he's earned for his family. He may never get another one. He needs to get paid.

The Rams negotiating with him need to treat it as such. If you haven't noticed the price point for CB's in the NFL is kind of crazy. Almost franchise QB crazy. The Rams actually got away with underpaying the the starting CB position by scoring 2 quality NFL starting book end corners in one NFL draft. And not only were they rookie contracts, they weren't even first round rookie contracts...

The Rams put themselves in this position. They should have extended both JJ and Trujo before there rookie contracts were up...

I really don't want to watch this up in coming defense get torched all season because of an idiotic move like this.

If you want to dump salary that makes sense trade TA. Almost exact cap savings. TA is replaceable. Talk about someone not performing up to their contract number. There is no comparison between Trujo an TA.

I wouldn't take anything less than a second round pick and a throw in next year for Trujo. I think the Rams could easily get that. From what I heard Miami was offering multiple picks including a second rounder next season. But smartly the Rams wanted picks this year....

Tru's got value. Worst case I keep him and spend the year negotiating...

If I am the Rams I am offering something slightly better than what the Patriots gave to Gilmore:

Patriots sign CB Stephon Gilmore (5 years, $65M; $40M guaranteed)

Draft a rookie CB to develop out of this deep class. Maybe just maybe you get real lucky and get some play out of the kid in his rookie year. Don't bank on it though.

It isn't like we have super duper veteran Safety play to help out with inexperienced or defficiency at CB...

Of course CB is one of the most difficult positions to transition to without being able to practice with contact... It's almost impossible for rookies to come in and adjust. That's why you see them getting flagged for grabbing guys all the time...

Personally, I think he's poised to have a great season. The injury didn't help last year. Neither did Brandon Fisher's coverage schemes..Especially late in games. I would ink him before that happens.

CB's are just way too valuable. Trujo is at the minimum a solid CB. He is young. He isn't a problem child. Somebody is going to pay him well and he has earned that. And trust me we are going to end up overpaying somebody at that position no matter if its Trujo or if its us desperately throwing darts trying to find a replacement....

Can't count on hitting the jackpot in one draft and landing 2 #1 corners in rounds 2 and 3... I'm actually not sure that's ever been done. Master stroke by Snead. Complete fumble if they manage to lose them both....

And cut/trade Saffold after June first...

I got to see him a lot in Philly. Love the guy's attitude and play (in the 3-4). Ram fans are going to enjoy this player. If they improve and he enjoys success, I could envision an amicable deal beyond 2017.

Barwin might be the best FA signing of the bunch.

Solid.

BobCarl wrote:Same way with Goff ... I don't hate him ... but I hate the deal that brought him here.

As it's sitting right now, it's a tough deal. But if Goff is THE guy, it's a great deal.

We got: #1, #113 (4th rd) and #177 (6th round)
They got: #15, #43 (2nd), #45 (2nd) and #76 (3rd) plus our 1st and 3rd this year.

We gave up 6 and got 3 (but turned that into 4).

Plus that 2017 third could have been #69 (instead of #100) had they not stipulated "if we get a 3rd round comp pick that goes to Tennessee instead of our regular third round selelction". Ironic how they bet we'd get a third round comp pick, which we did. Plus we traded #113 for #117 (4th; grabbing Pharoh Cooper) and #208 (Mike Thomas). We had 6 picks last year and we have 8 this year. That's 7 a year, the norm. All to get who we thought was our franchise QB. So it all depends on how Jared Goff develops. If he is "that franchise QB", who really cares what we gave up to get him?

We really only gave up a first (#15), two 2016 2nd round picks, a 2016 third, a 2017 1st and a 3rd round comp pick (in reality a 4th round pick). We got the #1, got a 4th (swapping it for another 4th/Cooper and a 6th/Thomas) and a 6th (Hemingway). What it came out to is we gave up 6 picks (one a comp pick) and got 4 plus Goff. If he is the guy, real good deal. If he develops and Cooper does, a better one.

Interesting question for y'all.

Who's the last Rams LB that could consistently get off a block other than Fletch?

Might have to break out the wayback machine on this one.

Can't think of one after the seventies, early eighties.

I've got to be missing some.

Hep me.

I just wish it was a multi year deal. If he performs like he should in Wade system I would have liked to secure him longer. Could have been the player's call only wanting a one-year prove it deal if he is highly confident in his ability

My optimism hopes Barwin comes in and helps the rest of the defense learn Wades system more easily than without him there to relate. Additionally, it would be nice for this to work out and have the number 1 ranked defense heading into the 2019 season....oh to dream a litttle dream.....

I totally agree
If this guy kills it, do we really need to have to negotiate for his services while negotiating Tru, Tree and Donald?

As John Madden told his Raiders before SB XI....."don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon!!"

I think we're getting the cart in front of the horse worrying about future free agents when we haven't had a winning season in 14 years!! Screw the length of this guy's contract or what that guy is going to expect next year, or the year after. Get the team above .500 ( # 1 ) and then worry about extending that to another season ( # 2 ). Everybody likes playing for a winner. And having done that they want to play for a Champion. And having done that, they sometimes believe their contribution was larger than their salary shows. What I'm getting at, I believe some players want to get out and get to a winner. So become a winner and you might keep some of them.
