Let me slow things down for you OldSchool.

Many experienced Draftniks like Mayock have often stated that:
"Drafting in the NFL is NOT a perfect science."
"Every pick is a crapshoot."
"Sometimes the measureables are great, but the mental toughness, or hard work ethic, or resistance to temptation is just not there, and you end up with a bust."
....okay, that last one is more mine.

Historical facts are that sometimes First Round picks like Johnny Manziel end up sucking, whereas 6th Rounders like Tom Brady end up with all the NFL records and SB rings.

So, if Draft Picks are indeed "a crapshoot"...
... then why not maximize the number of picks you have to increase your odds for successful picks?
I think that is a pretty simple concept to grasp.
ie. Hedge your bets by piling up extra picks.
What's so foreign-languaged about that concept? :?:

The Rams FYI had six draft picks in 2016.
The tale-of-the-tape is that Los Ramos were in the bottom 20% of NFL Teams when it came to "Total Number of Downs Played By 2016 Rookie Class."
The eyeball test for me is answering this question:
What great plays did our 2016 crop of Ram rookies make in games??
Jared FacePlant Goff was 0-7 and his QBR was abysmal.
Tyler Disappointment Higbee had 1 TD.....wow, be still my beating heart!
Pharoh BangedUp Cooper was a non-factor & even managed to throw a pick in the Zona game!
Tammarick Who? Hemmingway must've gone into a Witness Protection Program....I have no idea what he accomplished in 2016??? Anybody?? Maybe some ST tackles?? :?
Josh SolidStuff! Forrest showed some spunk before he hurt his knee....had some TFLs, but also rang-up a Roughing the Punter penalty IIRC.
Michael StoneHands Thomas could not even watch a KickOff into his hands...

so there are your Unimpressive & Unimpactful 6 Ram Draft Picks from 2016.

I dunno about you, but I would like to see Los Ramos have 9 or 10 Draft Picks in 2017, so that some of those multiple picks might amount to something....that's all. The more picks we have, the higher the chances we turn up a Tom Brady.......or even a EJ Gaines as a 6th Rounder.

Hope that filters things better for you.

As always, JMO.

Gotta disagree with your premise here. First of all, Wade Phillips is an ELITE DC. I love the fact that he is our DC. Secondly, in the 2nd round this year we should be able to draft the top center. I attended many of our games and just watched how weak we were in the middle of our Oline. I'm fine with Saffold at LG, and hope we sign a F/A RG (Warfield of the Lions?). Barnes is a quality back-up, but not more than that IMHO. Obviously, GRob is the biggest question mark on our team. As for re-signing Tru, I am not sure how I feel. He did play crappy much of last year, but I blame DC Williams for a lot of that as he had them lined up about 8-9 yards off which is something that does NOT play to Tru's advantage. I know Wade loves to play his corners tight and get after the QB, so Tru could be a much better player in Wade's system. While I'm talking D, I don't think TJ is any better than Maurice at safety.

I'd love the trade as a Ram fan, but don't see what Cleveland gets out of it, unless a guy like Mahomes is there at 37 and they figured he would be off the board.
Otherwise, Cleveland needs the 4th and 5th rounder just the same as the Rams do

Your posts are a mess. What difference between 8 picks and 9 or 10 picks if we make our first pick worse only to add a couple 6th or 7th round picks? You're taking a lesser player as your best pick to roll the dice a couple of times? I'm all for trading down if the guy we are targeting at 37 is falling. But to trade down just for the sake of a possible couple easter eggs is foolish. Also why would Cleveland feel the need to trade up when they have the pick a couple spots in front of 37. There has to be somebody they really want yet have passed over three times in order to do that trade. Plus you may not have been paying attention the last couple of years to the rest of the NFL but what you're proposing doing for the Rams is exactly what the Browns new management philosophy is. They have a moneyball baseball guy in place who believes in draft capital as the way to build his team. There's a greater chance that we trade up to pick 33 from 37 than them trading up from 50 to 37.

I'm sure there will be plenty of roster turnover but the big turnover, obviously, is with the coaching staff.

Just imagine last year's team with this year's offensive staff.

Are they still last in the NFL in offense? I say no way in hell.

OldSchool,
So first my OP was "gobbly gook".
So then I explain it more slowly so that even a Yemeni goat-herder with no English can understand it....and now my "posts are a mess" and "foolish."

Listen ace....of course the trade I am proposing is in the Rams favor. Duh!
Memo to OldSchool....I am a Rams fan, not a Browns fan....kapeesh??!!

BUT.....
IF I was a Cleveland Browns fan, coming off of yet another season sporting the NFL's worst W-L record....
if I was a Browns fan in that situation, before I spent penny-one on 2017 Browns Tickets, I would want to see some kind of signal from the Browns brass that they had a plan for REAL IMPROVEMENT FOR 2017!!
I don't think it is unrealistic at all to expect BrownsNation to be looking for some kind of plan for improvement from Browns management.
....hence my push for Cleveland to move up and draft 4 stars in the first 37 picks.....
ie. their own Ezekiel Elliot and Dak Prescott....leading them to more wins in 2017, just like Dallas improved from 4-12 in 2015 with their 2016 rookie phenoms. It's an angle that I am postulating that the Cleveland Braintrust might take. Why? Because I want more picks in 2017.

You think Cleveland brass will not go for that idea? Fine.
State your view and move on....this is a Football Forum, so we do not have to agree all the time....
...but save your Literary Reviews of my posts, or I will forget my Canadian good manners.

For someone who spends their time constantly making up ridiculous "middle names" for everyone and their brother in the NFL, it's kinda funny you can't even take the time to set an avatar. You should get one, looks better.

But you did do the flag thing, so that's good. :)

Avatars aren't easy for non-tech people. I would not have one without help from Elvis. Thank You Elvis.

I believe the flag thing is automatic based on the address you enter when you sign up. I have a USA flag and I didn't put it there.

For the record, the only issue I have with Canuck's posts are his lack of historical references. They are too rare and far between. For example, it has been months since he has had a genius history reference such as his "Katyn Forest Massacre" line.
