Because if he was really shows how much he is a true believer in his ways. So anyway from the small info I have read he got the extension in the preseason and signed it during the season at what point it does not say.I am thinking him signing it could have been here later than earlier in the season. Which would leave me to believe he was sure he deserved a better offer than Kroenke made. An was convinced he was gonna show the organization so en route to the playoffs on the arm of Case. Could have been about the time he saw that was not gonna happen and he moved away from Case he finally signed or maybe he still waited thinking he could salvage his idea he deserved more in Goff. An when it finally appeared to him it just was not gonna happen either way he finally signed, but just my guess. When the financial terms of the extension is released it will make sense if this is a possibility or not. We can see if the terms of this contract and the money in it we can see if it is something that could have offended Fish's high esteem of himself and his part in us getting to our "competitive" mediocrity.Which I am still under the assumption that when Stan used the word "competitive" it was because it was and is the buzz word he heard from Fish every meeting they have held. by dieterbrock 8 years 2 weeks ago Total posts: 11512 Joined: Mar 31 2015 New Jersey Hall of Fame Bonsignore: Despite contract extension, Rams, Jeff Fisher are likely headed for divorce POST #15 Rams the Legends live on wrote:I think Fish could have been holding out and that notion kinda really scares me. No leverage in that. I can see ESK feeling like he's back in StL all over again. This alleged new 'debate' or attempt through iki-leaks to force the 2 years would be akin to forcing ESK into a stadium he didn't want to play in.Frankly I could see Fish trying to leverage towards a longer deal but to weakly try and force it this way could not go over well. We all saw how that worked out for StL. And no vote needed this time. If Fisher was so unwise as to turn down a deal, that's good for those who want to see him gone.If Fisher claims he had verbal agreement, it could get ugly.In any event, I think Kroenke is a fair guy and would agree to a buy out of some sort. This is why they should have extended him before the pre-season ever started. More to the point, this is why all NFL teams extend the HC before the final year of a deal. Its just bad business to have this stuff coming out during a season. The extension doesn't guarantee another year. It all makes sense to me that an agreement in principal was reached, but not fully consummated. There's no reason why they wouldn't have announced it. After a 3-1 start, there were plenty of opportunities to announce it. Something doesn't add up in all of this.I think Fish could have been holding out and that notion kinda really scares me. I'm totally with you on this. I think Kroenke gave Fisher the obligatory 1-2 year extension and Fisher wanted a new 5 year deal. So to me it reads like Fisher bet on himself by not signing. And that's where it gets sticky. Maybe Fisher never signed it? Hooray for that. Way to go. In the meantime, I'm five years older and this shitshow still needs another four year plan to get over .500. Just bad timing for us Ram fans. E. Stash wanted no part of a winning team in the past three years (no short term investment in the O-line among other sins). It would have messed up the plan to eject back to the rightful home of My Rams. I would have thought he'd need the constituents to perceive obvious improvement in 2016. That didn't happen and should cost Fisher his head (with a nice out the door bonus year of cash). It's a business. Just bad timing for us...The good news in this, if this is the mindset, is that the effort is now going to be put forth and the unhappiness that no progress was made has our owner finally (potentially) pushing the ejector seat button.
