Did you start a thread about it or add this to the relocation thread?
It really has gotten tense over there. I dont know how I'd feel if I lived in St Louis but the tone there has gotten a bit rough. Seems like discussion is no longer possible when any "Pro LA" articles enter the fray.

Needless to say, that's why I love have RFU to come to. Nice to get different perspective

I started a new thread about the Roggin Farr radio interview.

I really haven't participated in the relocation thread at all. But I would love love love to say how happy I am about the move over there. But I've kept my mouth shut because I don't want to rile anyone up. Which is so unfortunate. Everyone there knows I've been a fan since they were in LA. So, why can't I express my happiness about the move? I've been a loyal poster since the site started. It's a shame.

This is an emotional time for them Stranger. They are like a frightened cornered animal who will attack anything/one that get's into their comfort zone. There in lies the beauty of RFU,,, LA's newest Rams site. I'm afraid anything positive towards LA will fall on deaf ears and the meddenger with be the enemy.

They are having trouble with folks getting chippy with one another....afraid that's just gonna get worse when all St Louis hope is lost.

That's the problem when you have such a large membership and it becomes split due to rumors. It would have been nice if everyone could leave their agendas behind when talking about that particular topic, but that's just too much to expect when discussing a potentially devastating decision for one half of the fan base. Before this shitstorm that Kroenke started came about, that forum has always been a great place to talk about the Rams, and there has always been a large contingent of LA Rams fans and St Louis Rams fans in there - dating back over 5 years. Not to mention the many fans of the team who reside in different states outside of both LA and STL. We're just trying to renew the focus on the upcoming season until a declaratory statement is made by either Kroenke or the NFL.

And I gotta say, Loyal, that your comment doesn't really make me believe this forum is for "everyone" per the tagline. It really makes it seem as though it's just another new safe-haven for LA Rams fans. Especially when combined with other comments I've read about how this will be the new Nirvana "when" the Rams finally do move. Just seems like there's a sentiment here that ROD's membership will deplete when the STL cockroaches go scurrying away after Kroenke restores your former glory. Am I wrong about that?

Lastly, keep in mind that I started that forum from Florida and purposely left the "STL" out of the domain name for a reason. I just wanted it to be about the Rams. Now, unfortunately, across multiple boards, it's about the prefix. And I think that's shitty. And for the record, I wouldn't blink an eye if they moved. It would still make absolutely no difference to me where they call home. Because for over 35 years, their home has been right here in my heart.

You can't have a discussion about a divorce without the parties getting upset. This isn't about the fans but it became about the cities and that polarized the fans from those different cities. The thread at ROD was very divisive and I'm glad 503 shut it down for the sites sake.

I disagree about what you call the safe-haven or Nirvana X. This site is for everyone but it is LA-centric. What we LA fans like about it is that we don't have to be concerned with upsetting someone from StL by posting what we feel or believe or at least hope for. At your former site there is a large StL presence so we typically bite our tongues so not to upset the posters there. It's nice to be able to have that freedom here. I would think you could understand that. That in no way means we are putting ROD, StL or any of the posters of the opposite opinion about location, down or below us. In fact most feel empathy for them because a move does seem more eminent.

We are Rams fans first so we have that in common, but there is that 2nd layer of hometown pride and familiarity that does factor in on both sides. I grew up in LA and only knew the LA Rams. I imagine Legatron at ROD grew up only knowing the StL Rams. Is this anymore fair to him now than it was for me 20 years ago? No way. But it still hurts, and that sucks.

Bottom line is that we are all Rams fans and should all get along. We also have to acknowledge that it is going to be difficult until a decision is made and perhaps threads like that were wise to close and certain opinions, like ours, should be kept /posted in the appropriate places.
I know I've gotten my fair share of bashing and disrespect from certain StL-centric posters over the years, so it cut's both ways.

I only said that because of some of the comments I've read here. And it's not worth digging up and re-posting, because I understand the excitement of being in on a forum after it cuts the ribbon. I'll be honest too, in that I don't know how many posters are from STL, because it's obviously never been a topic of conversation before now. I do know that none of the mods are from there though, for whatever that's worth.

I just have to wonder why it would be necessary to go to that forum to debate if the water's fine here. Is it because it's not as satisfying to share in group-think about the ongoing situation? I mean, what's the motivation behind going there to convince (your words) a large STL presence that they're going to lose their team if it's nice to have that freedom here? You see what I'm getting at? I think that monster of a thread would have gone much better if more people were willing to put themselves in the other guy's shoes. If you're truly empathetic, that's great. More people should be that way these days. ;)

Agreed X. I stopped posting in that thread months ago for that very reason. It started out ok, but as the climate of the relocation has changed, the heat started rising. It boils down to a lot of passionate fans who have either lost their local team and had to bite their tongue, or are possibly about to.
Not everyone is going to communicate the same way. Not everyone has the same threshold of pain. Some chose fight where other chose flight. These things are basic human nature. Again that is why I like this site as it somewhat segregates the populations during this very trying time.

BTW ROD is a great site, great software, great member list, news, boobies, I mean what else could a guy want. . Props for firing that up.

I got no psych background, and last place I stayed was not a Holiday Inn, but taking a wild semi-uneducated guess, for some it would be, in a word, "catharsis".

ROD has been an exceptional place to hang out... no doubt about it. And I hope after the move issue is publicly resolved, ROD will reconcile. But for right now, i just want a place to go where I can be excited about the move to LA without offending anyone.

We've yet to ban anyone.

True, so far, we're mostly a self-selected group of fans who would very much like to see the Rams move to L.A., but we're young and growing. I'm sure our membership will get more diverse over time.

But i'm never going to tell members not to be vocal about their desire for the Rams to move to L.A.

That will never happen here...

Well damn I hope not!

Right now you're in the sweet spot of having your hand-picked members plus their referrals. But if a bunch of pro-STL stragglers found their way in here and jumped into the discussions, you'd probably have your hands full and be faced with some tough decisions. The alternative would be to let it play out; but then you'd have a PD situation on your hands.

If I were ever to do it all over again (and I won't), I'd probably limit my forum to 50-100 *active* members who were there by invitation only. Once you pass the 500 mark, it's too much like work.

Stranger wrote:i just want a place to go where I can be excited about the move to LA without offending anyone.

Understood. That's kind of why that thread was locked down. Too much tip-toeing around, too many veiled insults, and too much tension. And this is a better place for that discussion than that other pro-LA forum. Quite a bit more maturity here. I just hope when all is said and done that we can all enjoy a bit of normalcy again. That said, if they do move and the PD drops off the face of the earth ... well, that would just be surreal.

Plus you'd have to double your wall guards.
