ramsww wrote:YES, the D is that bad if they keep allowing unsung WRs multiple TDs every week and no answer to gash runs up the middle. I’m hoping the DBs are learning on the run but Safety play the last 2 weeks has been horrid and has nothing to do with JJ being out. CB play is almost as bad, allowing all QBs 3rd & Long bail outs playing soft way past the sticks. Bring in Speights & Witherspoon. Sit Rozeboom and White, at least this week. Durant got robbed on that bad illegal contact call on the sideline. Otherwise played OK.

I think the safety play has everything to do with JJ out. Excellent communicator, knows the D better than all the rest, and a calming influence. I don’t underestimate that.

Here's something that surprised me. I didn't Fiske was performing all that well. Apparently he is

I felt the same but watched more closely this week and he does disrupt a lot. My contention has been arriving at the contact point under control. Fiske said in the Rams Revealed piece that the D Line has been preaching “body control” when rushing the passer and while keeping rush lane integrity. That is exactly the issue I have been seeing. That will come. Hopefully. Sooner not later.

One of the biggest issues this offense had during weeks 1 & 2 was Stafford's Kupp crutch. He did it in the super bowl after we lost Beckham and again in week 1 and 2. It's almost like MCV's game plan brings it out in Stafford. Look how much we spread the ball around in Week 3. It was night and day. I feel like both MCV and Stafford forget about the rest of the team when quicksand hits this group. I'd like to see better game planning from LaFlur and MCV where spreading it around is paramount. That way they can bracket or take a single receiver out of the game all they want. C'mon MCV....you learned this lesson from Belicheat in the 2019 SB when they took Woods out of it.

Nice point Solar. Hard not to throw to the guy who is always open.

Personally I don't take PFF grades seriously. They have proven to be unrealistic and they are strictly for media that don't bother to do their own homework. You talk to coaches about PFF and they just roll their eyes.....enough said IMO.

The problem with the defense is tackling and lack of discipline. Both of those things are indicative of having young relatively inexperienced units. Case in point look at Young last year as a rookie. Very reminiscent of Verse this year who lacks body control so he misses a lot of tackles. This year Young is much improved. It comes with coaching and development.

What has been the issue in the secondary is dropping coverage prematurely. The front 7 isn't containing mobile QBs which is a huge problem and again it could be scheme related or coaching related. The bottom line is these things are correctable issues.

We are only 3 games in so let's see how things progress before we throw up our hands and shake our heads like the Niner fans are doing right now.

Offensively, they are missing a whole lot of pieces, WRs #1 &2, TE#1, LG and Center. Yet they rang up 27 on the Niners that PFF gushed over preseason.

As I've said in other posts, I think Davis should be starting over Brown and Shula is playing Gallimore in rotation behind Turner. Shula is still in the process of fitting the pieces together. This is why the early bye week could turn out to be very good for the Rams.

Reeder made one hell of stop on 3rd down in the red zone against Mason on the whiners last scoring drive. If he gets the 1st down there it's game over man! Reeder is not perfect but that was a hell of a play.

One of the main issues I had with watching the tape on the Defense against the 9ers,

Why was Bobby Brown playing DT and not NT.

He is a better run stuffer than being a DT.

He has no moves playing on the outside within the middle front three.

Did Brown complain to the DL coach that he wanted to play DT and not to play NT?

If that's the case, then trade him.

We need both Fiske & Turner playing the DT position.

We can use Davis & Gallimore playing the NT

McVay needs to step in and make adjustments.

Totally agree. And I am saying to start rotating the other 2 LBs to see how they are, situationally. Reeder can make plays when the d line is in the right run fits and he keeps his fit integrity. Boom misses too many tackles for me but he does seem to be where he is supposed to be. The other 2 are just more athletic and versatile. But the coaches know better than I do, that’s for sure.

Perhaps they're 'developing' Speights to be inserted in the near future.
