Las VegasWe were in this up until today. Currently the 12th seed and drafting #6. We actually have better odds of getting the first overall pick in the draft than we do a WC spot. The last 3 weeks did us in. I don’t see better than 6-11 with another 5 win season most likely. Yes, there is only a 1-2 game gap between us and that last WC spot. But we play some good to very good teams (SF, Seattle, Balt, Cleve, NO) a team probably better than us in Wash, teams probably as bad as us in AZ and NY. If Staff isn’t 100% for Seattle, sit him until he is. If we lose the next 2, I’d be very careful exposing him to more hits/potential injury. Without him, this team is in major rebuild mode and will lose Kupp and AD before the team is good enough around them to do anything. Gonna be an interesting next few weeks for sure. No reason to risk what he has left at QB, play Kupp and AD sparingly. The risk is the team totally melts down and gives up completely on McVay. We should have had a viable backup that’s on Snead and McVay. Fuk the Niners and Block Purdy 3 by ramsman34 1 year 7 months ago Total posts: 10040 Joined: Apr 16 2015 Back in LA baby! Currently 3-6. A playoff appearance would probably require a 6-1 finish. That's an extremely tall task. So it seems they won't be gaining any playoff experience this season. However, if they can string together 3 wins, those last 5 weeks can serve as experience almost as valuable, just fighting for a spot. Either way, I'll watch. Since drafting QB's is an obvious crap shoot, let's take an OT early and draft TWO QB's mid rounds. Seriously. Staff's numerous injuries won't be getting better, so let's have him groom our next QB. At this point, it's hard to imagine we can count on Bennett for much. And, hopefully, we've learned our lesson about not having a top #2 back-up. 1 by actionjack 1 year 7 months ago Total posts: 5177 Joined: May 19 2016 Sactown Hall of Fame Playoffs And Draft Watch POST #16 safer wrote:The biggest thing I'm seeing is that we'd better take a QB next year. The Rams aren’t technically out of the playoff race yet, but at 3-6, things are looking bleak for Sean McVay’s squad. The good news is that the Rams actually have a first-round pick in 2024, so if they do finish the season as one of the worst teams, they’ll be able to take advantage with an early draft pick – unlike last year when their top selection was No. 36 overall. With Los Angeles hitting its Week 10 bye and this being the unofficial halfway point in the season, it’s not a bad time to look at where the Rams stand in the current draft order. According to Tankathon, the Rams currently hold the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 draft. They’re the only 3-6 team in the NFL, with five other teams having a worse record. Here’s how the top 10 looks as of now, with plenty of football still to be played. Cardinals: 1-8 Bears (via 1-7 CAR) Bears: 2-7 Giants: 2-7 Patriots: 2-7 Rams: 3-6 Packers: 3-5 Buccaneers: 3-5 Broncos: 3-5 Titans: 3-5The Rams will have a few different options in the first round of the 2024 draft. If they end up with a top-10 pick, they could use it on a quarterback to eventually replace Matthew Stafford. That would set them up for success in the future, but it may not help them immediately in 2024 if Stafford returns as he’s expected to.The Rams could also stand pat and take a stud left tackle, a top edge rusher or a cornerback to shore up the secondary. What might be most intriguing, however, is trading back and maybe adding a second first-round pick in 2024 or 2025.There’s a long way to go before that conversation comes to the forefront, but the Rams have a good chance to pick near the top of the first round next year. The Rams didnt want to go a season with backup QB's who are limited in the throws they can make. The trouble is, top backup QBs need to be paid like it. The Rams knew full-well that they didn't have a top backup QB, and just hoped that Bennett and/or Rypien would not be needed. They already knew if it got to that, things wouldn't be good. And they're not. I don't think that's particularly surprising to the Rams.I def think it was a priority to try and fix the backup QB with limited funds. The Rams didnt want to go a season with backup QB's who are limited in the throws they can make. The Rams drafted Stetson and picked up Ryp, with the hope that Stetson would grab the reigns to the backup QB position. Well Stetson had to go away and the Rams have had to lean on Ryp. While Ryp can at least make most throws, he isnt much good at anything else QB related.Hopefully in this next draft they get a dude who can play behind Stafford for a year or so.
