Maybe there was a minimum age requirement...like you have to be 37 years old or older.

I must be missing something. At least one of these guys came off our guys coaching tree.

A few years ago I watched a draft show on YouTube, I am pretty certain it was put on by PFF guys and one of the lead guys was a big niner fan. Could that be a factor and the reason for stuff like this?

PFF supposedly took many things into consideration such as roster, schedule, etc. But don't most head coaches have a say on the roster? Anyway, we don't really need the numbers, but here they are:

Last 5 years

#1 Belichick (53-28), 3 Div, 4 PS (5-3), 2 SB (1-1)
#2 Harbaugh (52-29), 2 Div, 3 PS (1-3), 0 SB
#3 Reid (60-21), 5 Div, 5 PS (8-4), 2 SB (1-1)
#4 Kingsbury (24-24-1), 0 Div, 1 PS (0-1), 0 SB
#5 Carroll (49-32), 1 Div, 3 PS (1-3), 0 SB
#6 LeFleur (39-10), 3 Div, 3 PS (2-3), 0 SB
#7 Shanahan (39-42), 1 Div, 2 PS (4-2), 1 SB (0-1)
#8 Vrabel (41-24), 2 Div, 3 PS (2-3), 0 SB
#9 Reich (37-28), 2 Div, 3 PS (2-3), 0 SB
#10 McCarthy (31-33-1), 1 Div, 1 PS (0-1), 0 SB

McVAY (55-26), 3 Div, 4 PS (7-3), 2 SB (1-1)

Reid and Belichick are a given. But how can you leave McVay off and put Kingbury, McCarthy and even Reich on that list.

Most wins.last 5 years?

Reid 60
McVay 55
Belichick 53
Harbaugh 52

Most postseason wins last 5 years?
Reid 8
McVay 7
Belichick 5
Shanahan 4

Most division titles?
Reid 5
McVay 3
Belichick 3*
LeFleur 3*

*Did PFF factor in "shit division"? LeFleur is 41-13 counting postseason. He's 15-3 vs the North and 26-10 vs the rest of the NFL. Good record but nothing like his 39-10 RS record.

Most SBs?

McVay 2
Reid 2
Belichick 2
Shanahan 1

PFF? WTF??

They tried to come up with a data based formula and, well, it needs some work.

But their idea is to try and account for how good the roster is to see how much value the coach is adding or subtracting. But it's not that simple since coaches have say in the roster and we've all seen how a player might thrive for one coach (system) yet totally suck for another.

Plus if you look at the difference between the 2016 and 2017 teams, it's night and day with a lot of the same players.

The difference is McVay...

Vrabel should be mentioned more often when talking about the best coaches. So should McVay really, maybe everyone gets caught up in the LA glitz but there’s substance there. His numbers are right there with Belichek. The feeling seems to be that Shanny is this tortured offensive genius and McVay has his hair gelled and is totally Hollywood, but the numbers are the numbers and McVay’s are better. They both got to a SB with a qb who couldn’t make the big throw and McVay swung for the fences to fix it and it worked.
Not every coach who wins it all is a great coach but I’d really like to hear how McCarthy is in the top ten and McVay isn’t.
