Great post. On this ^^^^^

I'm not sure the Rams don't have the #1 group 1-4 when they're all healthy.....assuming OBJ returns.

Rams : Kupp - Woods - OBJ - Jefferson
Cincy : Chase - Higgens - Boyd - Thomas (yeah, that Thomas...the one with 10 rec in 4 years with Rams)
Minnesota : Jefferson - Theilen - Osbourne - Westbrook

Same thing with Van. He's just doesn't fight for the ball. Doesn't have enough of an edge for my taste. He's an ok #3, and a better #4 but thats about it.

Well, if a young guy is gonna break out it happens a lot in their 3rd year. That is when the game starts to slow down for a lot of guys. We'll see how it turns out for him next season. If he doesn't improve then I don't see him getting a second contract like with Reynolds. But he will be a nice insurance option when someone goes down. Odds are, someone will at least for a short period. I was hoping he'd step up in the Superbowl when OBJ went down.

Yup. This is his do or die year. I just don't see it. I hope he proves me wrong.

I don't know what you "just don't see". I think the endzone pick in the SB and Yarber saying, "you gotta go get it" has some fans thinking Jefferson didn't know that or won't battle for the ball. His reply was, "I thought it was going deeper". But that's neither here or there.

VJ is our #3 WR. He caught 50 passes for 800 yards (16.0) with 6 TDs. If you look at the 2020 WR draft, there were 11 guys taken before VJ. In 2021, 7 of them had more receptions, 6 had more yards, 6 had more first downs and just 1 had more TDs. The difference though is all of them were either the #1 (6) or #2 (5) WR on their team.

Jefferson was the #2 for 3 games this year. I think you're selling him just a bit short.

Im not answering for Max, but IMO it is an overall lack of aggression in his game. There were several examples this year where VJ wasnt aggressive with the ball in the air. He has been fine #3 WR, but next year I would like to see him make another leap towards a #2 type guy. IMO he that needs to play with more of an edge on all situations.

Its tough to fully evaluate Jefferson given that he was clearly not 100% in the playoffs as he was battling through a knee issue.

His second year numbers, 50 receptions, 802 yards, 6 TDs were quite good. In four years, Josh Reynolds never put up numbers like that. His best year was year 4: 52 receptions, 618 yards, 2 TDs.

He has 2 more years on his rookie contract so, right now, he's extremely affordable. With Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and, possibly, OBJ coming back, he'll continue to have to fight for a role (and may have to share reps with Tutu Atwell and possibly Jake Harris).

He may just play out his rookie deal and then move on. That's okay. That's still a good value.

It seems that VJ is not the type of WR that can go up to fight for the ball at its highest point.

OBJ and Kupp can do those type of moves.

I really don't see Woods going up to get the ball either.

The both of them seemed to be more of a separation type of WR.

J Reynolds use to be that type of WR to go up and get it, but a lot of times,

his timing was off, so he couldn't win on the jump, so you would see a lot of incompletions.

The other receiver that can go up and get it, is TE/WR Jacob Harris.

It would be nice to see VJ practicing those moves in camp,

if so, he could be another top threat.

Agree with all of this. I also think we need to see that aggression when blocking in the run game and RAC. I hope he can add more muscle to that frame as well, it would go along way in making him a bigger threat....
