The crazy thing here is that unless Spanos gets 24 votes at the 11th hour, he is stuck either partnering with Kroenke or going back to SD.

And if he goes back to SD, and Kroenke goes back to STL, then Inglewood still gets built and Kroenke ends up in LA.

Yup, Spanos will stay in SD before he becomes a tenant in ESK's house. I just think the whole thing is hilarious.

Spanos played this so poorly. He's totally stuck. All options suck, as Carson was always a strawman. His only play was to let the political-lawyer scream lies from the mountain tops.

With Spanos, I wonder why it's never talked about how much he wants to keep SD? I mean, he keeps saying that 25% of his fans are in Orange, etc. But he does NOT want to give up SD. It's not like he's going to actually gain anything by moving to LA. It would basically be a wash for him to have 1/2 of LA(or less) as opposed to all of SD. Not only that, he leaves SD open for relocation/expansion. Is his endgame really to be the Angels/Clippers/Ducks as opposed to the Dodgers/Lakers/Kings? Not to insult any fans of those teams but I think that's been the status quo for quite a while.

But, that's the reality. If Spanos leaves SD, he not only loses SD he doesn't really get LA. It's a lose/lose for him.

The other side of that is his team would be worth a lot more money in Los Angeles than in SD, and he could then take on an ownership partner and be sitting pretty good regardless of whether he's screwed himself and his team out of a fan base...

But he admits that 75% of his fanbase is in SD. How does moving to LA make sense for the NFL, who have to appeal to existing fan bases? Is he going to bus them to Carson every wkend?

This is why its short sighted of folks to look at Kroenke's build as just a stadium.
He's got a project to build, and it will be amazing.
They couldnt put a Walmart on there, which is why the land became available. Seems to me Kroenke found his loophole. He'll build his mega complex and will probably get a Walmart in there too

Report: Stan Kroenke to build Inglewood stadium regardless

Stan Kroenke has turned in his application to move the Rams to Los Angeles, but he’s ready to build a stadium there with or without the league’s OK to go there.

According to a report from Brian Feldt of the St. Louis Business Journal, Inglewood mayor James Butts said the plan of Kroenke and the city was to go ahead with the stadium project, even if the NFL didn’t approve their bid.

Without a 10-game-a-year tenant, the 80,000-seat stadium could be in the mix for other sporting events such as World Cups and Olympics, and possibly host award shows.

But it sounds like an effort for Kroenke to call some bluffs in advance of this week’s committee meetings and next week’s full ownership meeting which could feature a vote on whether to let him go there, or for the Chargers and/or Raiders to set up shop in Carson.

If nothing else, it’s a chance for him to wave his wallet around, and remind the other owners what they might be missing out on if they don’t lean his way.

I believe its all about keeping Kroenke out of LA for Spanos. Whether he believes the Rams in LA will hurt his product or he's just got animosity because Kroenke moved on Inglewood without him I don't know. But I do believe his number one priority is keeping Kroenke from moving to LA.

I mean it was odd Chris Myers mentioned this.
