interestingly (weirdly?) a 27.5 offensive points scoring average would have ranked 8th last year (as opposed to 3rd)... anyhoo, thru 14 games, offensive points scored by mcvay's rams:

2017 - 394 (28.1 avg)
2018 - 415 (29.6 avg)
2019 - 304 (21.7 avg)
2020 - 327 (23.4 avg)
2021 - 385 (27.5 avg)

not quite circa 2017-2018, but better than the last couple of seasons.

The offensive eyeball test tells me that the offense is good but could be even better. But I'm always optimistic about the McVay offense.

The defensive eyeball test indicates to me that the defense has played much better the last few games. Of course, quality of opponent's offense probably has something to do with that.

Still 3rd in offensive points scored and now 7th in offensive points allowed. Not really fair considering the position the offense put the defense in with some of the turnovers but we're not the only team that happens to.

Vic Fangio's Broncos are #1 allowing 16.1 offensive points per game and there's a good chance he's gonna get fired which just goes to show, you really have to score points in today's NFL...

Also, Rams currently are #1 in yards per play at 6.1 and tied for 6th in opponent yards per play at 5.2.

Statistically, all good stuff...

the rams offense started out on fire, they ranked 3rd in offensive scoring thru week 8 with a 30.6 per game average, since then their per game average has dropped by more than a td:

defensively the rams have remained relatively flat, allowing an average of 19.8 offensive points per game thru the first 8 games, and 19.7 since:

One week to go and the defense is up to #5 allowing 19.3 offensive points per game.

The offense is down to #6 at 26.8 offensive points per.

Can't argue with the results but i'm still not a fan of the long time consuming drives we give up on defense. I want the offense to have the ball as many times as possible...
