aeneas1 wrote:as elvis mentioned, using http (as we do here) instead of https (ssl certificate) will throw up security alert flags, especially these days as more and more browsers are embracing https.... but, again, https is more about ecommerce, i.e. adding a layer of security/protection for shared data such as credit cards, something that rfu doesn't deal with, sensitive/private info... but everyone's moving to https, and i'm sure rfu will too before long, in fact i'm currently experimenting with cloudfare's ssl package, looks great.

re getting bounced off the site, timed out, after a bit more digging it appears that this has nothing to do with http/https, it's a cookie issue... i've reset the cookie at rfu which is supposed to help, but you should clear your browser's cache and also use the forum tool to clear your forum cookies as follows: "dashboard > navigation > delete cookies".

hopefully this will help!

When I open dashboard, under navigation the only option available is “my posts”

Aeneas is working on it so good chance we're all gonna get logged out while he's changing settings.

But right now, Chrome says my connection is "Secure..."

Again, it’s no big deal and it doesn’t prevent me from enjoying this awesome place!
I tried using chrome and it seemed to be worse. I would have to re-log in during browsing the site. Safari only requires me to log in when i enter

We tried using some third party solution to getting SSL and it screwed everything up. So we dumped it. No SSL but everything should be back to how it was.

Through the process we changed how the cookies worked several times so it's a good idea to clear the cookies via the RFU dashboard and on your browser.

Meanwhile, looking at other SSL solutions...

I cant clear cookies via the dashboard on my phone.
On pc Dashboard opens up completely. When I open on iphone, it only opens up the top part, doesn't allow scrolling down to delete cookies

I think that's normal, there's less stuff in mobile.

On your phone you can go into settings/Safari/Clear History and Website Data see if that does anything.

I think we have SSL up and running which means we might change the cookies to SSL which may or may not screw things up again, or maybe make them better...
