His loss of velocity is making him a different pitcher. One who can pitch well at times but has less margin for error. But yeah, even during his dominant seasons he has not been a clutch performer. If he and Jansen were just average in game 5 last year they woulda been champs. I think they will need another pitcher to be that October guy. Trailing 1-0 in this series and 3-0 after 6 innings in game two I would say they don't have that October guy. I don't recall them ever winning series when they lost game 1 and now they're on the verge of losing game 2. If they want to win a World Series they really need to find a pitcher that can win in October. They've had plenty of chances winning 6 consecutive divisions. But they just don't have that clutch pitcher. by Elvis 6 years 8 months ago Total posts: 41492 Joined: Mar 28 2015 Los Angeles Administrator Re: The Dodgers POST #603 1-1 coming back to LA RFU Season Ticket Holder by snackdaddy 6 years 8 months ago Total posts: 10043 Joined: May 30 2015 Merced California Hall of Fame Re: The Dodgers POST #604 TOPIC AUTHOR Watching them play in game 4 is frustrating. They just can't hit with runners on base. All year they've been relying on the long ball. They've never been good at manufacturing runs. Brewer pitchers have kept them in the park. Hitters aren't adjusting with 2 strikes. Seems like everyone wants to be the hero and ends up striking out. I've watched them a lot this year and tonight's game has that feel. The hitters look lost at the plate. Brewer pitchers must be that good. I don't recall the Dodgers ever coming back from a 2-1 series deficit and they could be staring at a 3-1 deficit. I don't see any life in their dugout. by Elvis 6 years 8 months ago Total posts: 41492 Joined: Mar 28 2015 Los Angeles Administrator Re: The Dodgers POST #605 13 innings and they go again tomorrow afternoon... I was just about to go to bed when Bellinger got that hit. I was getting pissed at their hitters swinging for the fences. They were striking out quite a bit. I was getting tired. I told myself I'll watch this last one and go to bed. I've seen them during the regular season and when they don't hit HR's they don't score much. So I assumed it was just going to be a disappointing loss. But its also a pitcher's game. The pitching was great. On both sides. If the Dodgers want to win they will have to have stellar pitching. When the long ball isn't happening that is what they should be doing. I honestly didn't think they were capable of a different approach. So I assumed it was just going to be a disappointing loss. But its also a pitcher's game. The pitching was great. On both sides. If the Dodgers want to win they will have to have stellar pitching. Seems like Brewer pitchers know how to pitch to Dodger hitters. And vice versa.I swear, watching the Dodgers is like watching the Yankees....Like you said, no stringing hits together just looking for bombs by snackdaddy 6 years 8 months ago Total posts: 10043 Joined: May 30 2015 Merced California Hall of Fame The Dodgers POST #609 TOPIC AUTHOR dieterbrock wrote:I swear, watching the Dodgers is like watching the Yankees....Like you said, no stringing hits together just looking for bombsIt does get frustrating. They tend to go through a stretch of several games in a row where they can't score more than a run or two if they're not hitting it out of the park. That is usually when they have their losing streaks. They were fortunate yesterday the pitching was stellar. It took 13 innings to get their 2nd run. by snackdaddy 6 years 8 months ago Total posts: 10043 Joined: May 30 2015 Merced California Hall of Fame Re: The Dodgers POST #610 TOPIC AUTHOR They did something in the second half of the game I haven't seen much this season. They changed their approach and stopped swinging for the fences. There were some clutch hits that weren't hit hard but got the job done. When the long ball isn't happening that is what they should be doing. I honestly didn't think they were capable of a different approach. Now they go back to a tough place to win only need one out of two. Ryu didn't fare well last time. But neither did Kershaw and he was outstanding last night. Ryu's been their hottest pitcher before the last outing. He's on full rest. Hopefully he can get it done and the Dodger hitters can get it done. Looks like a tough series so far.
