Dodgers control their own destiny like everyone else. 3 game series this weekend with the first place Rockies. They can either make a push or fall further behind. I don't the wild card being in the mix for them. Its probably either division or stay home. We'll see what they're made of. Last year it came easy for them. This year its a battle.

Now it comes down to the final day. Of course it could come down to tomorrow too. Dodgers will either be playing the Braves in the NLDS or at Chicago/Milwaukee for a one and done. The one and done will be tough. They used their best 3 starters in SF. I gotta think Hill would be starting if they play tomorrow.

They did good sweeping the Rockies but give Rockies credit. They reeled of 8 straight to regain first place. What hurt the Dodgers was losing 2 out of 3 in Arizona. They coulda been looking to win the division today if the win 2 of 3.

It seems like the Dodgers had a tougher road after the sweep. They play division rivals on the road who would love nothing more than to spoil the Dodgers plans. They're not starting guys they brought up Sept 1. They're going all out to beat them. Giants fans would revolt if they didn't play their best this series. Rockies playing teams who aren't as motivated to play spoiler. Oh well, nothing has come easy for this year's team.

The Dodgers have had a much tougher road this season. They've had to fight for it all the way to the final day. Now they're up a game in the NLDS. Who knows, maybe this time they'll be prepared? Things came easy for them last season. They did get to the final game in the World Series but they were relying on a faulty pitcher to bring it home. Seems like they have a couple pitchers gelling at the right time. Ryu was awesome last night. Buehler's been lights out. Maybe having to fight for it gives them an edge this time around.

Ryu was impressive. The Braves looked like a team playing their first postseason game in five years. Actually they looked a lot like a team who hadn't played a postseason game in a much longer time. And let's face it, it's been 14 years since the Braves have won more than 1 game in any one postseason. Having said that, the Dodgers are the reigning NL Champs. They looked like it last night.

Kershaw was every bit as impressive himself. He hasn't been throwing in the mid 90's for most the season. But he's learned to be a better pitcher. He said something about doing what Ryu did. They both pitched the same style. Mixing pitches up. First pitch breaking balls. Locating the fastball. Not giving the too much of the zone. Talking heads think this version of Kershaw is better suited for playoff baseball than the old version. Doesn't throw nearly as many pitches now.

Now we have a completely different pitcher going tonight. Buehler throws in the upper 90's. Not sure if the Braves will be relieved or if it will be harder adjusting. I know Buehler has been one of their hottest pitchers lately. I worry about a guy so young in the playoffs. But he sure looked the part of a solid pitcher in the playoff against a good hitting Rockies team.

Two of the 4 division series ended up with sweeps. Just what I was worried about, Buehler had trouble. Walking in a run and serving up a bases loaded slam. I wouldn't be surprised if this series goes back to LA for a game 5. This Dodger teams seems to have to fight for everything. Nothing comes easy. Problem with that is, sooner or later you don't come through when you need it. We'll see what happens the this week.

CONGRAT's to the Trolley Dodgers for the 2018 NLDS victory against the tomahawks. Now on to Brew-ville.

The Dodgers won more games on the road than at home this season so I hope that translates well since we don't have home field the rest of the way....

Freese came through with the big hit. Machado sealed with the 3 run homer. I thought overall Hill was decent. Not Ryu/Kershaw like but he kept them in it till the hitters could come through. They reach the NLCS for the 3rd year in a row. Some talking heads think this Dodger team is better equipped than last year's. I don't know. There are so many good teams left. I feel like the road to the series is going to be a little tougher. The Brewers are as hot as anyone. The Dodgers do have the experience angle.
