Wow, what an interesting read, very enjoyable...Reading this does indeed paint an unusual picture of Hill, everything I've read on this guy is that his pitching success is no fluke...
Thanks for posting this & if anyone is interested Yasiel Puig has been sent down to the minors until his approach & focus is on getting better at the game of baseball, he will stay there until the Dodgers see his work ethic improve dramatically or someone makes an offer the Dodgers can't refuse...
Getting Reddick made demoting Puig a certainty say the Dodgers...More than once I've pulled my hair out watching his lackadaisical play & shear stupidity...

I understand he's been on a great run but i lack faith in him sustaining it. He's thrown 100 innings once in his life. He's injury prone and he had his breakout at 36. That doesn't, to me, inspire a lot of confidence.

He just has to sustain it through October...He's been dominating the AL for the last 2 years. He's our best pitcher not named CK by a long margin. Its true he's been injured. But a blister isn't near as damning as other type injuries. For not having to trade away any top tier prospects I think the Dodgers did well. The Kershaw/Hill duo make us contenders and not pretenders in the event we make the playoffs.

Let's temper the two years dominating narrative. He pitched four games last year. Again I get he's been solid, but nothing in his past makes me think he can sustain it or do well in the post season. I hope I'm wrong, just not impressed with the trade.

So, here I am getting ready for work. My routine is to get showered, dress, have some coffee and open up my laptop for half an hour or so. And what do I see? The Dodgers are sitting atop the NL West in August tied for first place. Honestly, I never thought I'd see that this year. The boys in blue are playing well during the dog days of August? Without Kershaw? I don't know if it will stay that way, but I think I'll be wearing a smile today at work with all the giants fans there. 8-)

It lasted all of 1 day sd but I'll take it, we're in 2nd place again a game out...Vin was going on & on about Roberts handling of the bullpen this season versus how Mattingly handled it last year & wouldn't you know that the bullpen would blow todays game...LOL...
Vin mentioned during yesterdays game that the Dodgers have set a Major League record for injured players placed on the DL this year, 29 I think...

Yeah, they've had some tough luck with the DL this year. But there are some pleasant surprises. Turner has earned the everyday starting job at 3rd. No more platoon for him. Seager might not be that much of a surprise, but he's lived up to the expectations. Gonzo has had a down year, but he's proven himself so much over the years, no reason to think he won't pick it up at some point. If we can get some starting pitchers back and healthy, we can make it a good pennant chase.

I had a long winded response to your last post sd almost finished then my computer suddenly started shutting down because of some stuff that had been downloaded, updates, for Microsoft & its all been lost, so here goes again...
Totally agree re: Turner, the dude is solid gold with a glove or bat & his next contract will show just that, the Mets had a bigtime brain fart letting him get away, actually the Dodgers got him on waivers I think, he's as good as most 3rd baseball all-around imo...
Grandal (catcher) has been a downright monster with the bat July & August, Seager is the ROY, Utley & AGon are money & imo Pederson is as good or better than just about any cf you can name defensively, Kendrick is hot right now & Riddick is hitting the ball hard but he's finding a glove a lot but he's a past gold glove winner & he "loves" being a Dodger, he'll be ok...Roberts & the front office are doing voodoo with our pitching, we get that straight ( hear me KERSHAW?) and I think we have something special going on in L.A.

The 2016 Dodgers do it with volume. It’s not conventional — it’s disturbingly easy to mock — but they do it.

Their ERA is fourth in the NL. Their fielding-independent ERA is third. Their WHIP is second. So is their strikeout-walk ratio. And that’s with 28 pitchers not named Clayton Kershaw throwing 936 1/3 innings so far.

Jon Weisman.
