Rams Dominate wrote:snackdaddy, you might want to go to dodgers.com & read what they have in mind as far as pitching...Kershaw did some light pitching off a mound today & said he threw all his pitches with no problem, Roberts said no Kershaw until "after" the upcoming road trip (10 games) where he will use a 5 man rotation & no I can't remember who they are but Ryu is one of them...LOL
Bumgarner had a perfect game going into the 8th inning today against 'Zona, forget who got a clean hit to break it up, they brought in a reliever to finish up cuz when whoever got that hit Bumgarner was at 117 pitches & needing 6 more outs to finish...
Giants have the best record in baseball & everybody is playing well that I saw & Buster Posey is starting to heat up...

Also Roberts said he didn't think Kershaw would need a rehab game...

Dodgers place six prospects in BA’s midseason Top 100 prospects

Dustin Nosler July 8, 2016

Baseball America released its midseason Top 100 prospects update, and the Dodgers placed six players on said list. Amazingly, none of them were named Julio Urias.

That’s because Urias fell outside their guidelines for the list, despite still being prospect/rookie-eligible.

“To be eligible, players had to be in the minor leagues on June 21 (the midway point of the minor league season) and not exceed Major League Baseball rookie at-bat (130) or innings (50 innings) requirements. To be eligible, relievers cannot have more than 30 big league appearances. As this is aimed in part as a preview of the non-waiver trade deadline, 2016 draftees and July 2 international signees are not eligible for the Midseason Top 100.”

Fair enough. Let’s get to the list.

24. 1B Cody Bellinger
25. RHP Jose De Leon
44. CF Alex Verdugo
60. RHP Grant Holmes
82. RHP Frankie Montas
98. 2B Willie Calhoun (Pictured)

Impressive. The first four may or may not appear in the same order in my midseason Top 30 prospects update (due out Monday).

Bellinger, despite getting off to a slow start, is hitting well as a 20-year-old in Double-A. He has an increased walk rate, decreased strikeout rate, is hitting for power and hitting lefties. That’s awfully encouraging, but even I’m surprised to see Bellinger ranked this high. He’s probably closer to a Top 50 prospect than a Top 25 prospect.

De Leon has battled injuries this season, but still places in the Top 25. That’s mostly because he’s striking everyone out in Triple-A (36.7 K%). He might get a look at the Dodger rotation in the second half. That is, obviously, dependent on injuries and/or acquisitions.

Verdugo is hitting the cover off the ball and looking more and more like an everyday outfielder. He might not stick in center field, but he has plenty of arm for right field.

Holmes is at the lowest level of the minors of any Dodger prospect ranked in this Top 100. His strikeout rate (23.2 percent) is down a bit, but so is his walk rate (9.2 percent), which might be more important in the long run.

Montas has been marred by injuries this season, but when he has been healthy, the stuff and results have been there. If he can fully recover from the rib issues he’s had, he might see LA in September.

Calhoun is the biggest surprise for me. I thought Yadier Alvarez would get the nod over Willie, but Calhoun is doing big things as a 21-year-old in Double-A (in his first full professional season): 16 HR, 8.4 BB%, 13.7 K%, .215 ISO, 125 wRC+ — and he’s doing this with a well below-average .254 BABIP.

=====

Barring anything unforeseen, all these guys could appear on multiple Top 100 lists come 2017. But it’s nice to see the Dodgers still have a ton of talent in the minors, even after graduating the likes of Kenta Maeda, Corey Seager and Trayce Thompson.

Just got back from Nevada & saw Seager had a nice game, in the final game, against the Snakes, yesterday in the 1st game against the Nats he wasn't in the line-up, now today he's not in the line-up again, Seager has been our most consistant (AGon too) all year & plays against righties & lefties, is he hurt? I've been all over the Dodgers website & can't find anything, do one of you know why he's not playing? Recently his bat has been really hot batting over .300 for the year, he's an every day player... There's a rookie just called up , Culbertson I think, playing at short today,
WHATS UP?

Once again NO SEAGER today against a right handed pitcher, Strasburg, they didn't need him because Turner went crazy on Strasburg (13-0) only undefeated starter in the NL & maybe baseball, Dodgers won 6-3 taking 2 of 3 from the Nationals at the Nats home park ...Turner hit a 2 run homerun in the 2nd & a 3 run hr in the 4th...No mention by the commentators about Seager not playing & I'm slowly going crazy wondering why our ROY candidate ( & shoe-in to win by all) & presently hitting .301, is NOT playing & everyone is quiet about this, he's not mentioned at all...
Was he abducted by Aliens & the reason no one mentions him is the Aliens have cast a spell making people think he never existed? Well, they MISSED ME!

Finally found this on Seager, "Seager has a stomach virus & was held out of the 1st 2 games against the Nats, he was also held out of todays game as a precaution"...Damn, info on him was like he was the POTUS or something...

Word is on the Dodgers website the Dodgers are about to acquire Chris Archer, rt. handed pitcher from the Tampa Bay Rays, Baseball Insider says its 70% a done deal...Just watched some tape on the guy & he's the real deal, throws a 96 mph fastball & mixes his junk pitches in well...No Dodgers names have been mentioned but I would think top prospects are part of this if it go's down...

So far no deal for Archer yet. His overall numbers don't seem to match his talent. He's 27. At this point if he's gonna master the art of pitching you would think it would be happening by now. I imagine if they make the deal he'll be rotational depth.

On another note, Justin Turner has been tearing it up lately. 12 HR's and 34 RBI's in the last 30 games. I think its safe to say he's earned the every day starting 3B base job for now. I always like him as a Dodger. Been valuable utility guy. Now he's becoming a valuable every day guy.

The only thing I know about Archer is what I read on Dodgers.com, this week is when it will all happen if & when it does tho...From what I've read Archer will absolutely be in the rotation...
Did you watch the Dodgers/Cards game on ESPN today? 5 straight hits & it was "game over", AGon crushed a bases loaded Slam off of the Cards rookie pitcher & we wound up with 6 runs after 1 inning, final was 9-6 & we're 3 games behind the Giants...
I love Turner, the announcers kept saying he's the hottest hitter in either league, his double brought in 2 more rbi's, Seager seems to have lost his homerun stroke for now, he's been stuck on 17 hrs. for a while now...

Well, the Dodgers will get a good look at Archer today. He'll be facing them. Norris goes for the Dodgers. They both have similar stats. Not so good for either. We'll see what Archer's got.

I noticed their stats & had the same thought when I saw Archers, you could swap their stats & no one would notice...LOL
I'll be watching, 1st pitch around 7:10pm
