That’s the point.
They don’t.
At least, Cashman won’t.
Houston did, Cleveland and the Cubs did

As for “alleged” trade proposals? It’s nonsense, we don’t know what teams were asking.

When was the last time the Yankees traded a top prospect? When was the last time the Yankees had a top prospect? How long have they traded away the farm for somebody they "needed"? Steinbrenner depleted the Yankee farm system for years. They continued to do so until George passed and Cashman decided to be a seller instead of a buyer. And in no time flat, rebuilt the farm system. Now you want them to trade Garcia and/or Frazier for who, Bumgarner? Headcase Bauer?

Bumgarner isn't the guy who put the Giants on his back and won Championships. Bauer is a freaking nutjob. Stromen is a #3, at best. Maybe they don't win it this year. Maybe they do. Either way there will be another off season where starting pitching will be available and Cashman might sign somebody good. But there will still be fresh arms in the minors to tap into if he doesn't or if they need more help on the mound in 2020.

As for "we don't know what teams were asking" that's true. Not definitively. But there were reports from many sources Detroit wanted too much and the Mets wanted too much. Believe them or not, their guys didn't move, so either they weren't really available or they wanted too much, both Cashman indicated to the NY press.

On another note, taking the first 3 games of the Boston series sure seems like the Yankees have a compressor and nail gun for the Red Sox coffin. What headway they made up in Fenway is gone and they're even farther back than when that series started. 15 games in the loss column with 52 to play. If the Yankees go 30-22 the Red Sox have to go 42-7. Not gonna happen.

Tapping out on the prospect debate...
Crazy how things turned around.
I just cant get my head around all these injuries. Now Encarnacion is out for at least 6 weeks, and Hicks will be joining him shortly.
Never seen anything like this

It borders on surreal. Torres went to hospital last night but seems okay. Urshela fouled a ball off each leg in the same at bat and had x-rays. Hey but the starting pitching since the trade deadline has a 2.57 ERA!! :D

Got to tip the cap to Aaron Boone. Granted, you can only manage the players you have and Cashman is a genius for finding many of these guys, but damn, how great is Boone? 108 different lineups in 112 games? 25 guys on IL?
On pace to win 100 games for 2nd year in a row? May win the division by double digits?
Just wow. Incredible how that clubhouse stays on track, stays confident and truly rolls on the “next man” mantra. That happens because of leadership, Boone’s leadership.
He just has a way of putting the players first when things are good, and is only out in front when there is adversity.
Girardi was a good manager but I always felt like he made moves at times to show how smart he was or how his management won a game. With Boone I feel he’s like a McVay where he puts the players in the best place for them to be successful, so they get the glory.

Good point. There was a lot of "WTF????" when the Yankees hired Boone out of the booth. I was a bit skeptical myself. But damn man, the guy has demonstrated great leadership. In the face of season-long constant adversity, nobody on that team has panicked. To be in the position they are currently is nothing short of amazing.....35 games over .500....a 9 game division lead.....and most importantly, 15.5 games ahead of Boston (17 in the L column) with 49 games remaining.

Speaking of the Red Sox, I heard an interesting question posed on the radio yesterday. Was the 108 wins a fluke? It's the same team with very little change other than losing Kimbrel. Rafael Devers is having a breakout season.

Fun with numbers...…

Gio Urshela is having a career year at the plate and coupled with his phenominal defense, he gives the Yankees a definate upgrade over Miquel Andujar. Andujar was in the running for ROY in 2018 but could be trade bait with Urshela at third.

Tonight, in the 4th inning Urshela hit a double, the Yankees 200th of the season.
In the 5th inning Urshela hit a homer, the Yankees 200th of the season.
In the 6th inning Urshela hit another homer, the 200th hit of his career.

77-41. Magic number now 36. It should be a simple formality that Boone starts his managerial career with back to back 100 win seasons. 23-21 the rest of the way earns him that.

Dodgers and Yankees have a series at the end of next week. Could that determine home field in the World Series? Both teams have identical records right now. Best in the majors. Could be an important series if both make it to the World Series. They have the best home records in the league.

I think the road to the series will be tougher for the Yankees than the Dodgers. Houston's pretty stacked. And they've been there. Cleveland's playing as well as anyone the past couple months.

The NL has some tough teams but not like the AL. The Braves are pretty good. The Cubs and Brewers can be good but so far they don't look anything like they did the past couple seasons. The Dodgers will be heavily favored in any series in the NL.
