I don't mind all these pitchers signing HUGE contracts with other teams. I'd like the Dodgers to start developing guys again and relying on their scouting and farm system more than spending big money on guys who aren't going to carry them to the WS. Grienke had the best season he's ever going to have last year because he was playing for his last contract. Better the Dodgers got what they got out of him and let him go than pay a premium for his twilight years.

I've been reading Dodgers.com during the Grienke saga & there is speculation that Grienke would never re-sign with the Dodgers as long as Puig was a Dodger or the Dodgers just ran him over with money...

So it looks like the Dodgers will sign Kenta Maeda from Japan. He's one of the top pitchers there winning their version of the Cy Young award. You never know how good someone will be who's never pitched in MLB. But if history is any indication he could be pretty good. They've had success with asian born pitchers from Japan and Korea.

They could have a solid rotation if he turns out as good as they think he will. Won't be as strong at the top without Greinke. But should be better at the back end with a healthy Ryu and Kazmir. And don't forget McCarthy should be returning mid season. Still questions with health but things look better with Maeda in the rotation.

With the return of the Rams it won't be as painful now watching the Dodgers rebuild. They still haven't got a bat to protect A-Gone, still too many questions in the rotation, and still haven't fixed the Bull pen. So bring on the young guys and see why they held onto them. Looks like we're in for a experiment season with the Dodgers. Looks like there are about 6 National league teams better than them going into Spring, but we'll just have to wait and see.

That Google Earth image makes it look like LA is having the "big one". The only thing "lost" is the tv contract between Cox Communications and TWC who is asking a kings (not hockey) ransom. .

If Turner is able to stay healthy and productive the Dodgers should be fine and bring in another division title.
