Tell me who was guilty without evidence. I want to punish every cheater but it's impossible if the evidence isn't there. However I don't want to allow every cheater in because some got away with it. Huge difference.

There are some who flaunted it and those are the ones I despise the most. McGwire. Sosa. Bonds. Palmiero. Clemens. Now I have no idea if he used steroids but you scoff at a guy like Harold Baines...…#46 in career hits (7 behind Ruth, 10 behind Mel Ott), #34 in RBI (ahead of Chipper Jones, George Brett, Mike Schmidt, Andre Dawson, Rogers Hornsby and many, many others)…..but you'd want a bum like Bonds, or McGwire, or Sosa in the HOF? Because some other cheaters got in? It makes no sense what-so-ever.

It's no different than saying, "well this guy got away with cheating on his taxes and he was in fact, guilty, so because he cheated and we didn't catch him, we should let all the tax evaders we caught get away with it". You cheated, you got caught, you lose.

You said you were ok with some guys “slipping thru the cracks”.
The Mitchell report exposed many of the players you condemned, yet there are over 1,000 players who’s results weren’t posted.
Jose Canseco made a ton of claims after he was busted. At first he was laughed at, but eventually most of his claims turned out true.
At one point he claimed that 80% of the league did performance enhancing drugs.
80%.
Even if his claim was off, exaggerated, I’m not naive enough to believe that the % wasn’t at least in the middle of his claim of 80% and the “result” of the Mitchell report 8%

And your example of tax evasion is a good one, you break the rules, you pay a penalty. Doesn’t exclude you from the Hall of Fame. Heck, it doesn’t even prevent someone from becoming the President of the United States :D

I didn't say I was "okay" with it. I said if some slip through, so be it. I just don't believe the theory "we can't catch them all so they should all be able to get into the HOF". I believe if you get caught you should be banned...ineligible for life. If some don't get caught and get in it sucks but there's not a whole lot to be done unless they are all exposed (which I'm in favor of regardless of who they are, including some of my favorites).

Release the entire Mitchell Report names included. Pull the plaques off the wall of the cheaters who already got in and break them in half. Or have a separate wing of the HOF dedicated to the Steroid Era...…"Here are the players from the Steroid Era who excelled but because we don't know if they're clean, they're not going into the legit HOF with Mantle, Ruth, DiMaggio, Mays and the rest. :D

How many homers would Bonds, McGwire and Sosa ended up with without steroids, andro or whatever else they took? It's an exercise in futility. Nobody can say. But I'd bet, it's a helluva lot less than they hit with the help of their drugs.
