so how does our 24-year-old qb respond, in the championship game, on the road, in deafening noise, after the saints drove the ball 71 yards for a td on their first possession of the 2nd half to make it a 10-20 game?

finishes the game by completing 4 of 6 third down passes for a 1st down, by completing 13 of 18 passes (72.2%) overall for 183 yards, a td, a 123.1 qb rating and a 10.2 yards per attempt average, including completions of 39, 33, 25, 19, 16, 14 and 12 yards, that's all.

and how does all-world brees respond, in the championship game, in the comfort of his own home, with the hometown crowd at his back, after goff led the rams to a third quarter 75-yard td drive to make it a 17-20 game?

finishes the game by completing 1 of 4 third down passes for a 1st down, by completing 7 of 15 passes (47%) overall for 81 yards, a pick, a 35.7 qb rating and a 5.4 yards per attempt average, including just 1 completion of more than 10 yards.

and in an apparent effort to make everyone happy, goff also added to his 4th quarter comeback and game winning drive counts.

some of goff's championship game work (i'm partial to the last pass in the clip, an absolute laser/dime to reynolds on the final drive of regulation):

One of Goff's strengths has been his ability to come back in games. Overcoming deficits and mistakes is something he's done more often than not. We've all seen his ability to play at a high level and it will serve the Rams very well if he can mostly stay at that level.

His big time, low percentage completions and adverse plays were huge against the Saints.

Amazing Goff is the youngest QB (24) to ever win Conference Championship game.

Goff will have started 4 post season games including a Super Bowl under his belt at 24 years old.

Kurt Warner 7, Vince Ferragamo 6, Jim Everett 5, Pat Haden 5, Jared Goff 4

All I know is, we got ourselves a legit big time quarterback who can lead drives late in big games. That bodes well for us long term.

Simply a joy to watch. And he should only get better, which must scare the hell out of opponents!!

This is great condensed stuff A1. I particularly, and there is a lot to chose from, loved the roll out to the right to buy time and tossing a lazer to Everett who then scampered for extra yards.

During that play I thought Goff was throwing the ball away, then I thought is was going to be intercepted. The ball was thrown so hard and fast I still can't see the ball in the air even after several replays. Just an amazing play.

This condensed version of Goffs performance doesn't even include many other amazing throws.

Also, is there any evidence of who the better team is after the first quarter. The Rams were rolling and nothing could stop them. Only the helmet issue and crowd noise was the difference at the beginning, oh.... and Gurley's drops did not help.

All the more impressive when you consider just how hostile the environment was, to the point where i was thinking, "this is silly, it isn't even football..."

The crowd noise? I thought that was an accepted source of pride? Don't you want the home crowd to make as much noise as they can? I've always wanted that for the Rams. They actually did it pretty well in St. Louis at times with the dome. Impossible in the Coliseum I'd guess.
