goff has become a top tier nfl qb before our very eyes, and it's been fun as hell to watch the process, to watch unfold, the guy throws one of the most beautiful balls in the league, has a great release, and can deliver pin-point accurate passes with zip or touch... here are some of his throws from the saints game:

arguably his best throw of the day, a deep dig to kupp, the vid is intentionally paused during goff's motion to show where kupp is in his route at the point of release:

another one of his top throws of the day, just a perfect deep sideline timing route to woods, under pressure, incredible accuracy, goff and woods make it look so easy:

a dart to a surrounded cooks:

another beautifully placed ball that kupp, unfortunately, can't come down with:

a perfect strike to cooks... aikman went on and on about the route cooks ran on the play, which was nice, but failed to give goff any credit for the perfectly placed ball:

a dart to higbee with whitworth in goff's lap:

td strike to cooks:

precision td pass to higbee, who can't hold on:

comes right back after the higbee drop, avoids pressure and delivers a td pass to brown:

again, a dart to a surrounded cooks:

dart to everett:

woods:

great play design, td to kupp:

tie game!

had to add this gurley run, the guy is a beast, watch what he does to anzalone:

Yes, he's the real deal. Coming in his pocket presence was considered top tier and he's displayed that. I love the way he moves so subtly as the rush moves all around him. His calmness is apparent. Sure is fun to watch and should be for a long time. He has a good chance to make 3 of his receivers 1,000 yard guys this year. Of course of the three it won't be anything new for Cooks.

His talent is outstanding. But Goff has got to get better late in the game in clutch situations.

Goff's QB rating is 112.9 overall, but in the 4th Quarter within a TD either way his QB rating is 79.5. That's a 30 point difference.

His number's in the 4th in tight games are:
14 out of 24, for 58.3 Comp%, O TDs and 0 INTs.

That's not terrible but certainly not up to his talent.

The question I have is how much of this is on Goff, and how much is on McVay. I was less than impressed by McVay's play calls late in the game last Sunday.

Goff in 4th Q vs Saints (trailing by 8)

7/10 91 yards 1 TD and 1 converted 2pt conversion to tie game
Rating 131.7

Lol at the “he has to get better late in games” crowd

So you think he was good on the last 2 possessions in NO?

On the first one, Goff missed an easy throw to Woods on first down that he usually makes in his sleep. Then 2nd down Gurley gets stuffed on a run that looked like the Saints wanted more. Then on 3rd down with plenty of time in the pocket Goff throws a 2 yard pass to Kupp. It was a quick 3 and out that looked so weak.

Then on the next one, Goff is just chucking the ball wildly hoping for a miracle.

Goffs stats on those last 2 possessions were:
6 attempts, 1 completion, 10 yards. for a rating of 39.6.

I am a huge Goff guy. He was my choice a year before the Rams drafted him. But I am honest about what I see right now.

and how much was dictated by the game sitch?

we're talking 24 pass attempts, i.e. 8% of his total passes on the year, of which only 6 were thrown with the rams trailing (two when the rams trailed by 3, four when the rams trailed by 1)... the other 18 passes came when the rams were ahead... i'm not seeing much of a red flag.

what really bugged me was he couldn't do shit when the defense put the offense in a 14-35 first half hole, hopefully he'll get better and be able to make up 21-point second half deficits on a regular basis, like the top tier qbs... such insanity.

Obviously you don’t see the issue that I do. That’s fine. Sarcasm and nastiness don’t cut it as a good rebuttal. It just makes your argument look weaker.

Say the sample size is too small, or the HC/QB are historically young, something resembling anything thoughtful. Otherwise, your response is vapid.
