7th pick in the draft who didn't fit new HC Lovie Smith's scheme? I thought we were getting a pretty good deal giving up a 4 and a 6. And it's looking like we did...

Yes, that'll be what happens and in obvious passing downs he or Tree would come off, the one that stays on blitzes.

Barron is versatile. Big nickle, safety, linebacker. He's very good at all of those. I think he fits better when Williams devised plays that move him around. I would even consider him every bit as valuable as Jenkins. Jenkins is becoming a lockdown corner and the defense can do different things with Barron. I would consider both of them a high priority to sign to long term contracts.

I agree with this post. Jenks has matured and had time to see pretty much every route combination run these days. Barron is that movable chess piece for Williams IMO. He can deploy Barron from almost anywhere on the field. He's great against the run and can cover TE's. He also brings the wood on his tackles. I'd help Chris Long pack if that's what it takes to keep Barron.

I thought The D turned the corner last year when Donald began starting and the trade for Mark Barron.
