Week 1: Rams@Raiders

MNF: 9/10, 7:20pm

I know there is protocol for this thread, and I will follow it this year after this week. But let’s get something clear for now: Rams own LA.

This game is fuck the Raiders. You think you owned us pre-season all costumed out - just wait til we all up in your hood w Suh, Brockers and Donald and you got no Mack.

McVay is not a younger Gruden, he’s who Gruden wishes he could be.

Our Offense unseen in Pre-Season, is about to be SEEN.

The media can talk their asses off about big personality Free Agents about to explode our locker room, Rams gonna show how it really works as a team. We not me.

This is NOT the Eagles Dream Team of yesteryear, this is the LA RAMS.

Something not seen yet. Here we go....

Betting line:
Rams up 4, over/under 49.5

Maps and etc added to thread.

Ok so. The regular Raider board locked their board last week, and I decided not to register.

This one still works

They are very much focused on else, so not much to discuss game 1 yet. We will have to wait for Hacksaws quotes of them.

I must add. It really doesn’t matter which team board you go to, Rams are paper tigers. Until our boys are on field and real.

This will be fun...

As it should be.

The black hole knows better, that game was no indication of how good either team really is.

Suh, Brockers and Donald and you got no Mack.
They "will rally around" Fadol Brown LOL ok so Brown might not even make the final 53 https://raiderforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13611

Its game week and I can hardly wait. Excited to watch games Sunday but it's going to be tough waiting until Monday night to watch the Rams. I hope the back-up three rookie OL decision doesn't bite us and I'm a bit concerned that we've given the outside pass rush to Ebukam and Longacre. In Wade I trust, but Quinn and Barwin had that veteran know how that Ebukam lacks and Longacre is coming back from a back injury.

I hope Wade's Defense is a top 5 defensive team. Great pass rush, great press corners and now we need good LB play....are Littleton and Barron up to the challenge?

Can't wait Ram fans...lets get this thing going!

Key Matchups

If the Raiders want to win this game, they’ll have to win in several facets of the game and have the upper hand in a few key areas. Here are a few of them.

Rams interior defensive line vs. Raiders guards/center

The strength of the Rams defense is, with all due respect to their corners, at defensive tackle. You will not, this year or any year, find a tandem better than Suh and Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald. Luckily for the Raiders, they have the best interior offensive line in football with Kelechi Osemele, Rodney Hudson and Gabe Jackson. If the Raiders can win this battle, it will make all the other aspects of the game easier.

Raiders cornerbacks vs. Rams receivers

If all goes well, Gareon Conley will be starting opposite Rashaan Melvin for Week One. The speed and route-running abilities of Kupp and Cooks are tremendous, and this will be a serious challenge for the two young corners. A pass rush is absolutely necessary to mitigate their threat, but Conley and Melvin will need to step up and make some plays. They absolutely cannot let Cooks or Kupp get behind them.

Rams RB Todd Gurley vs. Raiders front seven

Last year, Gurley showed himself to be an all-purpose threat, rushing for 1305 yards and 13 touchdowns while catching 64 passes for 788 yards and five scores. The Raiders have beefed up their defensive line with rookies Arden Key, PJ Hall and Maurice Hurst, and added to their linebackers with Tahir Whitehead and Derrick Johnson. Gurley seems like a tough ask for this unit in Week 1, but if they can force a few turnovers then this might turn out in their favor.

Conclusion

On paper, the Rams are easily the best team in the NFC with the fewest question marks. Sean McVay has proven to be a superlative coach and Jared Goff’s sophomore season was nothing short of spectacular. Facing this team in Week One on Monday Night Football seems like an uphill battle, even at home. We will see very quickly how well Paul Guenther’s defense can deal with an elite offensive attack, and also how the Jon Gruden battering ram offense and whatever Kung Fu quarterback training he puts Derek Carr through pays off against the best defense money can buy.

"All that money can buy" is going to be thrown at us all year long. All I can say to that is our D looks pretty good and that all great players like to win and be paid.
Seems like a good idea to me. What's important though is that it seems like a good idea to the Rams / ESK.

McVay vs. Gruden
Short term: We'll find out soon enough.
Long term: In today's San Jose Mercury News it mentions that Gruden only talked to Mack twice. Once when Gruden was hired, and the other time to say "Goodbye" when Mack was traded. Conversely, McVay, as mentioned in another thread, talked to AD throughout his holdout. From a player's perspective, big edge to McVay. Big edge to the RAMS going forward.

McVay is entrenched. His ego seems way in check and success is his barometer. He knows people as well as he knows football. I wish I knew half as much. This bodes well for all of us Ram bros and bras. 🤟
