no team threw the ball more during the 1st quarter than the 2017 rams, and only one team threw it more throughout the first half.

conversely, no team threw the ball less in the second half than the 2017 rams, that's what happens when you rank 3rd best in score margin after the first half of play, and league best in score margin after 3 quarters of play, as did the rams.

here's a look as pass ratio rankings for each down by quarter, and by half:

Your graph really illustrates how aggressive the Rams were in the first half of games considering that they were 24th in pass attempts, yet 10th in passing yards.

yep, and just how conservative they were in the second half given their leads, which can really be seen when looking 3rd down passing... everyone throws on 3rd down in this era of football, the league average was 80% last season... the rams ranked 4th highest in first half 3rd down pass ratio, and second to last in second half 3rd down pass ratio, including dead last in 4th quarter 3rd down pass ratio.

2017 4th quarter pass ratio rankings (rams were last) compared to the start of the 4th quarter score margin rankings (rams were first) and wins, red text indicates postseason teams - moral of the story? teams with leads entering the 4th tend to run the ball, those trailing pass:

Hopefully the trend continues and also hope they can run the ball with TG3 on the bench in the 4th quarter.

last season the following qbs ranked in the bottom 3rd of the league in 4th quarter pass ratio, no doubt because they couldn't be trusted:

brady
rivers
prescott
brees
flacco
wentz
newton
goff

meanwhile the following qbs could be found ranked in the top 10 in 4th quarter pass ratio because, you know, they're clutch:

kizer
moore/cutler
hundley
trubisky/glennon
hoyer/beathard
siemian/osweller
gabbert/stanton
