Inglewood Mayor explains Century Blvd. reconstruction as it relates to Stadium project

Inglewood mayor James T. Butts joined Fred Roggin today to give an update on the stadium project in his town and the latest concerning an NFL franchise returning to Los Angeles.

The $35 million Hollywood Park Tomorrow project comes one step closer with a groundbreaking for the reconstruction of Century Blvd. from La Cienega to Van Ness, beginning on October 17.

The time table for the excavation for the stadium is still on track for December, as the permitting process is still in progress.

Is it true that Inglewood is going to be an NFL Disneyland?

There’s always been the consideration of things like NFL studios, a West Coast Hall of Fame for the NFL, because there’s room for it. … NFL Disneyland is about the way to put it because it will be in the center of basically what will be The Grove, mixed with a residential community, mixed with an entertainment zone.

The City of Inglewood is another step closer to a new, state-of-the-art NFL stadium being built on what was once the Hollywood Park Race Track.

Thursday, Mayor James T. Butts presided over a ground breaking ceremony to rebuild and resurface Century Boulevard which runs west straight from LAX, beneath the 405 freeway, passing the Fabulous Forum, the site where the proposed NFL stadium will sit, all the way east to the 110 freeway and beyond.



This is all part of the City of Champions Revitalization Project with the ground breaking for the NFL stadium – which is to be privately funded by St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke – sometime in December or early January.

The Beast 980 Reporter Eric Geller was at the ceremony and captured the sites and sounds on Century Blvd. with some 200 people – including members of Bring Back the Los Angeles Rams – joining Mayor Butts and the Inglewood City Council for the festivities.

Still an amazing coincidence the stadium groundbreaking coincides with the last Rams home game.

I think people are quietly waiting and hoping for a December Groundbreaking Ceremony. I know I am. If they put shovels in the ground I think it's game over and the Rams move to Inglewood. Then they announce fresh uniforms in new old colors and watch the people flock to the Los Angeles Rams. I can't wait to start recruiting people that were indifferent about the NFL without a club.

Not a coincidence Hacksaw. Pre planned to coincide with Rams last home game. The CVC made plans for the Dome in December, forcing the NFL to schedule the Rams away the last two games of the season. But what if the Rams make the playoffs and get home field advantage?

The CVC has done this to the Rams the last three years, scheduling events in December so the Rams have to play on the road the last two games of the season. A distinct F--k you to Stan and the Rams.

Stan takes a poke back by scheduleing groundbreaking the same day as the last Rams home game at the Dome.

I know its ain't a done deal till its a done deal. But this is another nail in the coffin for St. Louis. No matter how many times you punch number in the calculator, all these things keep adding up to Rams back in LA.

They are doing a complete roadway reconstruction likely to add more lanes, resurfacing and striping for starters. He speaks of this project having to due with the Hollywood Park Tomorrow project. This is the plan that Stan is somewhat piggybacking on or using to expedite a possible stadium. Allegedly he's been given control over the entire project. It also does not directly have anything to do with Stan's stadium other than the probable capacity calc's / fittings for the infrastructure being installed currently....

BTW, you are undoubtedly quite proud of the young and future Los Angeles Ram fan in your new avi Stranger! Looks like a happy guy. Must have been a picture from after the Cards game, right? .... lol

The December dates were from the amended lease to allow the Rams to play the home game in London.
