Green might think she's politically bullet proof or she might be someone who calls for others to end up in the river:

Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce got a slice of the old adage in politics of "what goes around, comes around" at last week's Board Of Estimate and Apportionment meeting, when Comptroller Darlene Green blocked her request to increase her budget by $120,000. Although Green would never admit that part of her opposition to Joyce's request stems from Joyce's treatment of Grand Jury testimony that tried to implicate Green in last year's vote fraud trial, Joyce and the rest of the political community got the message.

Green used a velvet dagger to block Joyce's request. And then, in what had to be an embarrassment to Joyce, Green found $60,000 in her current budget and got it transferred to her personnel budget. Joyce, a close ally and friend of Slay, got a good taste of the dessert revenge served on a bed of ice.

So, we got a friend and ally of Mayor Slay who tried to get Green nailed for voter fraud -- and yeah, why wouldn't Green think that the Mayor knew and approved of that. Green survived those allegations and got re-elected. Sure it was over 10 years ago. Now we got Slay with his pet project -- it would seem that Green would have extra motivation to be fiscally responsible and do the right thing. Likely, I'm totally way wrong, but still fun to think about.


Schaaf is probably safe as a Red Senator in a Red Senate in a Red State and not eligible for re-election because of term limits.

If these guys can help the Rams cause, then I hope they go to the wall for their cause and maintain the clout to see it through. If this is simply leverage (like what everyone else is doing to some degree) and they have their own agendas, if they get what they are really after, will they then deviate?
I am of the firm belief that StL 'blowing it' again with their thrown together funding plan will even bump JT's meter towards LA.

There maybe some politics involved with Green but her bigger concern is the ratings for the city and how that will impact not only the stadium financing but all future borrowing.

This is a large part of why she earns a paycheck isn't it? Sounds to me like she is bound to do the proper thing for the people and who she works for

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most, if not all elected officials take some sort of oath to do the proper thing for the people -- it's called an oath of office.

So, obviously, the politicians responsible for spending $12B on public money for 51 stadiums between 2000 and 2010 all did the proper thing for the people that they work for, right? Like when Kevin Johnson hosed over the City of Sacramento for the Kings new stadium and got himself into a ESPN 30 for 30 video featuring his efforts to save the Kings? Yes, yes, we can all speculate what Green's concerns are, but I"m pretty sure none of us know her. Bottom line, I think everyone has a suspect/skeptical view of politicians. I'm not willing to put the suspicion/skepticism away for Green.
