garoppolo mania

geesh, livin' in the san francisco bay area you would think it was the niners who recently clinched the nfc west crown and a postseason spot, the garoppolo mania is that insane, it's practically "montana who?" in this neck of the woods... my good friends and neighbors took their two sons, home from college for the holidays, to the jags game, clad from head to toe in bright red niners gear, and returned foaming at the mouth, said they sat behind season ticket holders who said it was easily the biggest, most rabid crowd of the year, which the announced 70k+ would seem to confirm.
---------------------
from nfl.com after the jags game:
"Football's fun again!" Staley declared as he neared the tunnel at the south end zone. And though it seemed like an obvious question, it was my journalistic duty to ask for clarification: How much of that has to do with the presence of No. 10? Staley's answer, in a word: "Everything."
---------------------
the niners started the season 0-9, not since the league moved to a 16-game schedule 40 years ago has a team that started 0-9 finished the remaining 7 games with a winning record, the 2017 niners will put an end to that - the niners are 5-1 since starting 0-9 and with a win over the rams can finish out with a 6-1 record in their remaining 7.
as a rams fan living in niners country i would love to see the rams absolutely annihilate the niners this weekend, see gurley run at will, see goff put up another 3 td passes, see donald welcome garoppolo to the nfl, rams style, and shut these bay area front-runners up.... especially because if the niners beat the rams (or, god forbid, whip the rams), the storyline will be much more about garoppolo-the-great beating the nfc west champs and the great thing to come for the niners in 2018, with little mention of the niners facing the rams jv squad. yeah, sure, we will know, but that's not enough! ha ha.
thing is tho, even if the rams fielded their a-team this weekend and whipped the niners, i don't think it would make much of a difference at all to the delirious niners fans, as far as they're concerned the niners have already arrived, have the league's best qb going forward, and will dominate in 2018. i say bring it on!
