geesh, livin' in the san francisco bay area you would think it was the niners who recently clinched the nfc west crown and a postseason spot, the garoppolo mania is that insane, it's practically "montana who?" in this neck of the woods... my good friends and neighbors took their two sons, home from college for the holidays, to the jags game, clad from head to toe in bright red niners gear, and returned foaming at the mouth, said they sat behind season ticket holders who said it was easily the biggest, most rabid crowd of the year, which the announced 70k+ would seem to confirm.

---------------------

from nfl.com after the jags game:

"Football's fun again!" Staley declared as he neared the tunnel at the south end zone. And though it seemed like an obvious question, it was my journalistic duty to ask for clarification: How much of that has to do with the presence of No. 10? Staley's answer, in a word: "Everything."

---------------------

the niners started the season 0-9, not since the league moved to a 16-game schedule 40 years ago has a team that started 0-9 finished the remaining 7 games with a winning record, the 2017 niners will put an end to that - the niners are 5-1 since starting 0-9 and with a win over the rams can finish out with a 6-1 record in their remaining 7.

as a rams fan living in niners country i would love to see the rams absolutely annihilate the niners this weekend, see gurley run at will, see goff put up another 3 td passes, see donald welcome garoppolo to the nfl, rams style, and shut these bay area front-runners up.... especially because if the niners beat the rams (or, god forbid, whip the rams), the storyline will be much more about garoppolo-the-great beating the nfc west champs and the great thing to come for the niners in 2018, with little mention of the niners facing the rams jv squad. yeah, sure, we will know, but that's not enough! ha ha.

thing is tho, even if the rams fielded their a-team this weekend and whipped the niners, i don't think it would make much of a difference at all to the delirious niners fans, as far as they're concerned the niners have already arrived, have the league's best qb going forward, and will dominate in 2018. i say bring it on!

They need something to grab at. Garapolo has no true body of work. I believe he's good, the next coming...not so much. Plus, reality of a 16 game season with their roster will hit home next season. Unless Lynch truly is the "Wizard of Oz" things will still have to progress for a few seasons. They are playing to beat the Seahawks for second in the NFC Wset IMO

still blows my mind that the niners headed into the season with hoyer as their guy, they actually signed him to be their 2017 starter, what a slap in the face to season ticket holders...

garoppolo? in his first 3 starts the niners scored just 3 offensive tds and a whopping 15 field goals, while their defense held the bad guys to just 15.3 offensive points per game, not exactly canton stuff in terms of offensive performance, but you have to give jg and their offense credit for that jags game, they looked good.

I think a lot of JG success can be attributed to lack of tape, home field and some poor teams. Beating Chicago and Texans (with Yates as QB) on the road is not that impressive. Playing a Titans team at home still not very impressive but good. Beating Jax at home is a solid win. Let them have their false hope. The more JG wins, the higher his contract is becoming :) and the lower their draft stock is dropping.
He appears to be a solid QB but franchise altering? Too early to tell but they are going to have to pay him like he is.

I'm so tired of hearing about this guy.

All the Niners trolls are coming out of the woodwork on social media talking crap. According to them the Rams are resting their starters because they are afraid of this guy.. haha

It just sucks that one evil empire helps out another in this case.

I suppose the niners will franchise tag him next season before they commit to the big long term money for 2019. So they will have him for at least one season, after that, all bets are off if another team signs him to a long term contract.

Once he is signed to the big money he will immediately strap whatever team he is on. Worth it if he is that good. To be continued...

As do I, depending on the drafting and F/A work of both teams. The whiners have a lot of work to do. We have a head start, better RB and better QB and better D and better STs and better coach - all IMHO.
