Amazing what a good running game can do for a QB. Fournette looks really good but it's opened things up for Bortles. Who, IMO, wasn't nearly as bad as folks were acting like after last year.

Of course, I thought he'd be in real trouble after losing his top WR but the Jaguars look like they're building a solid team right now. Balanced on offense and the defense is looking really strong, especially today.

And, just to tie it into the Rams a little, I think it just reinforces the idea that you need to help a QB out. Put some pieces around him and he'll look a lot better.

Both the passing game and running game can help each other out if the coach knows how the blend them together. Some of the Rams players were saying in the Fisher system the passing game and running game worked independently from each other. McVay's system has them working together.

To me, if I had to pick one thing, which isn't so easy when discussing football but what makes it great, I'd say predictability is what's most important.

Which is where Fisher's offenses always fell short. And why Bortles was struggling last year. It was easy to defend them because they couldn't run and had to try and pass. The Rams were in the same boat but couldn't really pass either.

If Bortles can just stay within himself the Jags are a good team

Bortles looks like the second coming of Aaron Rodgers right now. Looks like our schedule may be tougher than we expected. The Jags had two blowout wins so far, and both against two really good football teams.

i'm a big bortles fan, he did a great job his sophomore year which pretty much went unnoticed by the talking heads, led he jags to 12th in offensive scoring, but crashed and burned in 2016 after the jags kicked olsen to the curb... anyway, i don't think marrone/hackett know what they're doing with that offense, and bortles started the 2017 season with two average games at best, not sure one great outing against the hapless ravens means much at this point.
