POST #1 TOPIC AUTHOR i don't want to see the rams' brain trust continue to think cook is a viable run blocker, especially in critical situations, such as 3rd and 2, which was the case against washington, shown below. not only do the rams continue to ask cook to run block, but they run plays that are entirely dependent on his success as a run blocker, including sealing the edge.... honestly, how long can this continue? what on earth are these guys seeing on tape that makes them think they can count on cook to get the job done as an oft called upon run blocker? unbelievably not only did the rams count on cook's run blocking ability on this 3rd & 2 play, but they actually lined him up as fullback, good grief. riley (56, rilb) absolutely destroyed cook, blew him him up, launched him two yards back into benny, and in the process destroyed what looked like a very nice hole. worth noting, grob did a nice job on the rde, drove him back 10 yards, brown did a nice job too, barnes let the ilb sneak through, but it appeared benny would have already been through the hole if not for cook:i don't want to see good pass pro and a nice throw, deep enough for a 1st on 3rd & 8, ruined by a drop:i don't want to see our qb, on 3rd & 5 of the opening drive, simply drop the ball when flushed out of the pocket:on 3rd & 5, with trips right, i don't want to see our qb look left the entire time, with a quick peak at britt on a crossing route before throwing it to a covered back down the left sideline... granted, there was pressure, but had foles seen the uncovered stedman after looking at britt, instead of continuing to look left, it would have been a 1st and probably big gainer:i don't want to see out qb badly overthrow a wide open tavon, 1-on-1, on a deep post:on 2nd & 10, i don't want to see our rb drop an easy swing pass with real estate in front of him, which would have at least made 3rd down more manageable: and i definitely don't want to see a coaching staff that has zero answers for an offensive look, in this case 7-8 man jumbo packages: by Elvis 9 years 4 months ago Total posts: 40508 Joined: Mar 28 2015 Los Angeles Administrator Re: What I Don't Want To See Vs Pitt... POST #3 TOPIC AUTHOR man, i'll second that! would love to see a couple of takeaways tomorrow and cook making big catches, not flailing as a run blocker... most importantly i'd love to see the rams knock off the steelers, heck the 4-12 jets with their 25th offense and 22nd defense, behind michael vick, knocked them off in nj last year, and the the friggin' browns, with their 27th offense and 16th defense, behind hoyer no less, knocked them off in cleveland last year as well, c'mon rams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by Hacksaw 9 years 4 months ago Total posts: 24523 Joined: Apr 15 2015 AT THE BEACH Moderator Re: What I Don't Want To See Vs Pitt... That's the way Williams runs this defense give up a high % but make them short yards. Our defense is like 10th best in yards per play given up. The Steelers today averaged 4.5 yards per play there is nothing wrong with that at all, and that's with a couple missed tackles for like 3 20+ yard plays. The offense needs to abandon this mix of zone blocking and just go power. You draft a bunch of guys that are big and strong and can maul people, well let them use it and don't put them in zones it's ridiculous! We abandon that and get out tight ends catching the ball and the offense imo is fixed.
