Howard Balzer with Jim Hanifan, Dick Vermeil, and Charley Armey
http://media.blubrry.com/talkstl/p/talk ... 5HOUR2.mp3

Excerpt from the interview (starting at approx 17min)....

Dick Vermeil: If I were a HC in the NFL, like Jeff Fisher, I would have traded for him.

There is a demeanor about him. There is a toughness. He is bright. He never ever appears to be frustrated.... even if he gets wacked really good. He keeps everything in perspective during the ballgame. I think you can win it all with the guy. You know, he is going to have a bad game just like anybody else, but I think he is a fine player.

Howard: I don't know if you saw the game on Sunday, but you talk about getting whacked. He was blindslided.

And, now it is a little over 4-minutes left and all of a sudden the Rams are behind in a game where they lead by 11. There is 18 unanswered points, and you're going... here we go.... same old Rams.

But what the players are all saying is he (Foles) comes over to the sideline and everybody is.... you know... hanging their... and he says, "hey... c'mon... c'mon.. it's a little adversity... we'll get right back on the field..."

I know it is sometimes easy for someone to say that, but it is another thing to be believed. And I just thought of it, I remember so many times what you used to say about being a HC in the NFL. What was it... you have to be...

Dick Vermeil: You have to be believed to be heard

Howard: And he seems to be

Dick Vermeil: The players in Philadelphia seem to have respected him, and the coaches did as well.

He definitely appears very confident in how he handles himself, the media and the way he approaches the QB position. He made a believer out of me all game. As soon as SEA scored that Punt Return it seemed like the switch flipped and he started putting together drives. Really, the Anti Bradford IMO. The way he rallied the O after the Pead fumble and his Sack/Strip/Score was very impressive. Can't wait to see how he does in his first road game as a Ram.

Gotta admit. I was impressed with his mental toughness and ability to make a play when it looked like it was doomed to fail. I was concerned about him. He didn't look all that great in the preseason. And people were saying he had flaws. But I feel better about him now.

I can't overstate how impressed I am by his "grit". The kid is half my age, but I feel like he's serving as a mentor to me :)

Really enjoyed this Stranger thank you and really loved this deal from the outset especially with what Eagle fans stated and they can be a tough bunch, but most of them said that when the game is on the line Foles is money. Bradford was not a vocal leader and nothing wrong with that, but I believe the Rams have embraced Foles being more vocal and not sitting on the bench and pouting after a bad play and the sack and fumble against the Seahawks was a prime example of this.

Now on paper Bradford might have more talent, but when the bullets start flying you never know who's going to come out on top and I concur with Coach Fisher, it was a good deal for both teams and add in the cap relieve and that the Rams were able to extend Foles and that's why now it's always sunny in St. Louis and next year Los Angeles!

Even during the Redskins game, I didn't see any frustration from Foles. And up until that last Skin's TD, I had confidence that Nick would continue to compete and make a game of it. This, for me, was a huge difference over how I've viewed this team during it past 4-seasons.
