I NEVER root against the Rams. I still root for them even when losing at the end of the season results in a better draft pick. I still root for them even when a loss will help me in one of my pools and win me money.

So that begs the questions (at least for me) - Is it likely that having the Rams lose most of their games this year increases the odds of their move to LA? And, if so, does it make sense to root against them for those of us who are very anxious to have them come back to LA?

For me, it's not really a choice. I see those uniforms, and I root for them. Period. Just can't help it.

Honestly I don't think this is a case of like the draft if ya suck and lose ya get to pick first. This is all based on the determination and money of one man and it don't matter if the Rams win or lose it will not detour him from what he has already decided. So I think for all those who want to see the Rams in LA they can pull for them to win this year as whether they win or lose will not matter. At the end of this season I believe St. Louey will still have money problems, Carson will not be viable and Stan the only one who was not reactive in all this since he orchestrated it, will move the Rams whether they were winners or losers on the field.

I had a super long winded response and trashed it. Instead:

Follow your heart, that's why we're fans.

Go Rams!

All true everyone. I think Gareth is saying it might be easier for the league owners to say yes if the apathy is on display in StL. It won't change ESK's mind nor would it deter him. The problem is he isn't the only nut in the bowl.

I think the decision about the move will be solidified before the season is over and that the attendance won't have any factor.
I will say that if fan apathy reaches high enough level that safety of the players/coaches is in jeopardy it could make a transition happene quickly. And nothing feeds apathy more than losing......

I'll be rooting for the Rams. But i'll take solace, maybe ever pleasure from the debacle it will be in St. Louis if the Rams get off to a bad start this year...

If rooting for the Rams is wrong, I don't want to be right!

Heh, I know, I know what Gareth meant. In the middle of my original, original response, I was going along, getting a bit long, and was about done when I realized, damn, the affect of the look of the empty barn and musings that the league might delay a year . . . . F-it, click off analytical mode, delete post, click on fan/cheerleader mode, Go Rams!! :D

On game day and throughout the season I will root for the Rams. I can't root against them no matter what the stakes are. But if losing expedites the moving process, I'll take solace after the season that there is hope for the future. Even if they lose their request to move and end up staying in St. Louis, I think the damage is done and they won't be filling the stadium next year. The general mood will be apathy and that has to affect the players to some degree. The move is their only chance at future success.

Rooting against the Rams is wrong IMO. I don't know how to anyway. It's just that if they do lose, the consolation prize might be a better chance at LA.

Rams Tickets Not Selling Well With Brokers

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Secondary-market broker StubHub says St. Louis Rams single-game ticketsales are down 15 percent from this time last year.
“I’m sure that the potential move to Los Angeles has had something to do with it. But, there are other possible factors, like how excited the fan base is about off-season moves or favorable home match-ups,” StubHub spokesman Cameron Papp tells KMOX.

Papp says in contrast, San Diego Chargers ticket sales are up 28 percent, and the Oakland Raiders are up 11 percent.

St. Louis, San Diego, and Oakland are the teams seeking league approval to move to the Los Angeles market, possibly as early as next season.
The Rams distributed more than 37,000 tickets for their two home preseason games. The Edward Jones Dome capacity is 66,000.

Many NFL teams won’t say how many season tickets have been sold leading up to their season-opening game – including the Rams.

As for Sunday’s opener against the Seattle Seahawks, Papp says great seats still remain.

“The average ticket price sold so far has been about $90. You can get some for $70 to 80 or go as high as $300 or $400.”
He predicts if the Rams have early success on the field, ticket sales for the rest of the season will greatly improve.
