Or is this just a little CYA?

I was listening to Darren Smith on 1090 am talk about this earlier this afternoon. I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. He didn't want the other owners to true to help him come up with a solution to stay in SD. Over the past year, Spanos never made an effort to stay in SD. Measure C was a joke and he knew it wasn't going to pass.

I want to say yes because I firmly believe that the NFL does not want to lose SD and more re-location and/or expansion isn't really on the table right now consider the ratings issues.

Isn't it still a possibility that Spanos can go back to SD? That he had to make his move to be the team to get the LA option rather than Oakland?

Well they did approve the move last year sooo..

I still believe that the Raiders were not going to move to LA anyway. Las Vegas was their destination from the get go.

And I still think the chargers are going back to San Diego

well this makes much more sense than the nfl/owners backing it....
