COLE CAMP, Mo. (KMOX) – The Ozarks town adjacent to where St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke grew up is asking the billionaire for help, but so far, he’s not getting back with them.
“He’s our local town boy who did good,” said Judy Silva with the Cole Camp Chamber of Commerce.
Silva explains that the town needs $60,000 to payoff the bank for roof repairs to the Cole Camp History Museum, a building that includes mention of the Kroenke family in the town of Mora, just three miles down the road.
“Stan’s father was postmaster in Mora,” Silva says. “We’ve been trying to get some money out of him. We need his help.”
But so far, Silva says there’s been no response to the letter the town sent to its most famous local resident.
Married to the daughter of Wal-Mart founder Sam Walton, Kroenke is the owner of Kroenke Sports Enterprises, which includes the Denver Nuggets of the NBA, the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL, and the St. Louis Rams of the NFL.
Kroenke has irked St. Louis area leaders for not returning their calls for months as they seek to build a $900 million new stadium on the riverfront to keep the Rams from moving to Los Angeles.
Kroenke is reported to own seven homes, including one in Columbia, Mo., valued at $2.5 million, one in Malibu, Calif., valued at $8.9 million, and one in Aspen, Colo., valued at $20.7 million.
Despite the lack of response from Kroenke, the town of Cole Camp is waiting patiently by the phone.
“We understand he’s a busy man,” Silva says. “It would help preserve the building and the old time treasurers. Tell him we would thank him in advance.”
I laughed pretty hard when I saw this, now Kroenke is a bad guy because he wont bail out a town that couldn't budget?
