Rams QB's who became Eagles QB's

Bobby Thomasson - 3 pro-bowls and led the league in TD passes once for the Eagles.

Norm Van Brocklin - 3 straight pro-bowls and a league championship for the Eagles.

Roman Gabriel - Pro-bowl and led the league in TD passes his first year with the Eagles.

Ron Jaworski - Pro-bowl and led the Eagles to the Super Bowl

Sam Bradford - ???

But, the Rams did get A.J. Feeley and now Nick Foles from the Eagles.

For the Record in 1973 the Rams acquired Hadl and then traded Gabriel for WR Harold Jackson. Hadl was the MVP in 1973 and Jackson made the pro bowl and was one of the better Ram WR's in his day so the Gabriel trade worked out and Hadl led the Rams to the playoffs that Gabriel never sniffed in Philly.

As to Feely he signed as a free agent from the Panthers although he had played for the Eagles twice and he came as a back-up so putting him up there against the others is a stretch, but many Ram fans know the history and IMO I make the Nick Foles deal every time and I know you do to, but you don't give much hope for the former Wildcat.

Interesting. I wonder how many QB's we sent off to other teams over all the years. I know we jettisoned a few players I'd like to have had back. Vince, Dick, Brudzinski, Gabe, Bettis, Fletcher, Warner, Me, den and the list goes on....
Let's hope the talent gap between sent and received QB's closes with Foles. Philly owes us.

Do we get any credit for Jeff Garcia?

I just find it unusual that the Rams have sent so many QB's to the Eagles and that those QB's had success. I can't think of any other examples that compare.

Yeah not one team the closest was probably the Falcons back in the 70's acquiring the likes of Bob Berry and Bob Lee from the Vikings and the Houston Oilers made a couple of deals with the Raiders trading Blanda and also Pastorini for Stabler, however, seems the Rams and Eagles have done this more than other teams over the years and the Gabriel trade was better for the Rams then the Eagles especially after trading Hadl to the Packers (1974) that landed the Rams future all pros.

It's certainly easy to think the Rams came out on top of a few of those deals. But with Gabriel/Hadl, Gabriel actually put up better numbers than Hadl who was an all-pro. Gabriel was on the downside of his career but would he have been better than the musical chairs that the Rams went through? Gabriel's numbers declined in the mid-'70's but he was also on a pretty lousy team. Put him on those championship caliber teams and I think his numbers are at least as good as Hadl/Harris/Jaworski/Haden.

Yeah I took into consideration how they would have been with Gabriel, but they received Harold Jackson in that deal and he was amazing. Then Hadl to Green Bay for all those draft picks where Dennis Harrah and Nolan Cromwell were drafted to name a few...Tough to analyses would they have been better with Gabe, but some felt Knox held Harris back with his conservative approach as the more things change the more they remain the same.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to think about Harris. I've read that the Rams brass wasn't ready to have a black QB as the face of the franchise, that Harris had..."relations" with the owner's daughter, I just don't know what the deal was.

It seems like Knox just didn't know what to do with his QB's or that his hands were being tied behind the scenes. Because it seems very odd that Jaworski was benched in favor of Harris for that playoff game and even more odd that the Rams would ditch both Jaworski and Harris in favor of Haden.

I do think there was something to the issue with Harris and Rosenbloom's daughter, but we'll never know. But Rosenbloom loved Haden because he was the golden boy who was a Rhode Scholar from USC and checked all the boxes beside the ability to actually throw the football, he was very limited in arm strength.

I concur about the playoff game in 75 (Dallas) never understood why Knox went with Harris over Jaworski who was the QB that led the Rams over the Steelers and then a huge playoff win against the Cardinals. Knox was old school and maybe felt players don't lose their jobs to injury, however, I never forgave Knox for that loss, however, I was nine years old at the time.

IMO in 76 they were ready to go with Jaworski and he broke his leg and Haden had a very good QB rating that year so they dealt Jaws coming off an injury for a TE they liked in Charles Young (USC) and just felt it was best to part ways with Harris and sign Namath because Haden was still young.

Knox really tightened up in the playoffs Fred Dryer stated the team felt more confident with Malavasi because they knew Ray would gamble more than Knox did and take more chances. Knox never did reach a Super Bowl as he was Marty Schottenheimer before Schottenheimer as both were offensive line coaches that seem to play it far too close to the vest come playoff time.
