Write this down, but I'll deny it if I'm wrong...

The Rams will draft Connor Cook but not with their first pick.

I expect them to trade up somehow and pick Cook after they take a WR or CB at 15.

My thoughts are that Fisher has made it clear that Gurley is the centerpiece of his offense. He has gone on record, saying you build your team around Gurley. So Fisher isn't really looking for a centerpiece QB. And don't see him giving up the farm to move up for Goff or Wentz who will go in the top 7.

The Rams could go for Lynch at 15. But Lynch is much more of a project than Cook, and Lynch's potential is more of a centerpiece guy too. I think Fisher would rather have a stud CB than a long term project like Lynch. Certainly there will be a WR or CB on the board at 15 that have a better rating on the Rams board than Lynch.

Personally, I'm hoping they land Treadwell at 15 and then can maneuver to get Cook or possibly Lynch later in the first round or high in the 2nd round.

This just feels to me like the way Snead and Fisher operate. These guys love extra picks, they hoard extra picks, they live for extra picks, they aren't about to give away a bunch of picks especially for anyone in this draft.

I just see Cook as a Fisher guy. And that a-hole reputation that he's got will blend nicely with Fisher's.

Also, I think Treadwell would make the biggest impact on this offense this year. He's a great blocker and would fit perfectly with Gurley and compliment Tavon well.

So I'm going with Treadwell and Cook to the Rams in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Write it down, if it happens it was pure luck on my part.

I think this whole "centerpiece" terminology can be misleading. I don't see anything in Fisher which says that because he has a back he doesn't want a top qb. You would think he knows enough about football to get the advantage of having both things. 8-)

I tend to agree with Max about not picking a QB unless by some chance one of the top two are there at 15. But I have to question whether or not he can pass on a defensive stud if one is there.

I appreciate your views on this subject, I simply don't agree with them.

It just makes more sense to me that a HC looks for a QB that fits his philosophy on offense.

And its compounded by the need to give up a slew of draft picks to get a Goff or Wentz.

Centerpiece doesn't mean a lackluster QB. Troy Aikman was not a centerpiece QB, he threw the ball a lot less than guys like Montana, Young, and Favre. But that offense went through Smith and their running game.

My point is that some HC build their offense totally around their QB. FIsher is not that guy. He is more Parcells than Walsh in philosophy.

I'm also skeptical of Chip Kelly taking Goff. Ideally, I think he wants a more mobile type QB. Just another example of a HC and QB fit. We shall see.

I'm going to disagree with you Max...Rams in LA and want to make big splash, they will trade up to the 6th spot and draft either Wentz or Goff, which ever one is available, if both are gone then I could see them following your formula.

Loved that movie..
"When I got something that works, I stick with it."

I think yours is a logical position to take, den. Nevertheless, I'm sticking with my gut and Cook.

Also, I don't see Wentz at all in LA. He's not pretty enough to look good on a Wheaties box. And that's important for a QB in LA.

Put me in the "I want Conner Cook" camp.

However, Jared Goff was sent from central casting

Yup. Goff passes the Hollywood screen test. I think the Browns are gonna take him, though.
